Noblis MSD is seeking an Engineering candidate with advanced experience in Mechanical Engineering systems as related to submarine sail systems in the following areas:

 

Submarine Systems in the area of design and modifications of experience US Navy HM&E Submarine Communication and Electromagnetic Systems.

 

This Mechanical Engineering position will support Towed Communication Buoys for Ohio & Columbia Classes, ISEA engineering support, Obsolesense, Material prototyping & management, configuration changes, documentation and procurements the Modernization Program. Additionally support various hull, mechanical and electrical systems (HM&E), and research, development, test and evaluation (RDT&E) programs for the Norfolk Naval Shipyard (NNS) & Naval Surface Warfare Center, Philadelphia Division (NSWCPD).

 

Candidate duties will include the following:

 

Support the investigation of the viability and operational utility of a retrievable tethered buoy system.This includes supporting the following: The evaluation and development of system design options, The review of payloads The refinement of concepts of operationsThe outlining system benefitThe de-risking of critical aspects to inform submarine design, and determining ship fit options. Support the tasking to define the design trade space analysis covering performance, reliability and vulnerability.Creating and testing prototypes for functionalityRe-engineering products when problems are found and recalculating for the return of products to full functionalityPreparing reports and documentation for leadershipPerform obsolescence evaluation and assist with finding replacements

 

 

Required Qualifications BS degree plus 5 years' experience (or  HS+11, AA+8, MS+3, Phd+1)Excellent communication skills, both verbal and writtenCandidate must be able to obtain a Top Secret clearanceExperience with Submarine Communication & Electromagnetic Systems (SCEMS) dependent upon degree.Experience with equipment design principlesFamiliarity with 2D/3D engineering design & manufacturing tools (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor)Experience reviewing models and drawings for manufacturability of partsExperience with documentation development including drawings, technical manuals (operation, assembly, troubleshooting, and repair), bill of materialsAbility to communicate in a clear and concise mannerFamiliarity military specifications for technical design Desired Qualifications

Experience in Mechanical systems related to Submarine Towed Buoy SystemsExperiecne in engineering, design, fabrication, and testing of prototype equipmentSubmarine Sail systems, machinery controls design development and testSubmarine Systems in the area of design and modifications of experience US Navy HM&E Submarine Communication and Electromagnetic SystemsSubmarine Systems, including the Ohio Replacement Program, Virginia Class Program, Seawolf Class Program, Columbia Class Program Moored Training Ship (MTS) Program, Multimission Platform Program (MMP), Advanced Seal Delivery System (ASDS), and Joint Multi mission Submersible (JMMS) ProgramExperience interfacing directly with US military technical representativesExperience working with equipment suppliers and vendorsShipboard experience as an operator / maintainer is a plusNaval experience in engineering disciplines Overview

Compensation at Noblis is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the combination of education, certifications, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, internal and external equity, location, clearance level, as well as contract-specific affordability, organizational requirements and applicable employment laws. The projected compensation range for this position is based on full time status. For part time or on-call staff, compensation is proportionately adjusted based on hours worked. While monetary compensation is important, it's just one component of Noblis’ total compensation package.
