2nd Shift (3:30 pm - 2:00 am; M - F)
Starting Wage $24.39/hr + $1/hr shift differential
The Submerged Arc Seam Welder is an Individual Contributor responsible for the set-up and operation of the flux core sub-arc seam welding machine to place a continuous seamed weld on one or two sides of the pole shafts.
Essential Functions:
Fuse (weld) metal structural components together by means of multiple forms of Submerged Arc Welding processes in the fabrication of steel electrical poles and other structuresPerforms welding operations requiring most of the following: planning and layout, working from blueprints and drawings or other specifications; requires a knowledge of welding properties of a variety of metals; setting up work and determining operation sequences; welding objects involving critical safety and load requirements; working in a variety of positionsPerform repetitive types of assembling operations according to procedures established by others; and use hand tools and measuring devices in the performance of workMove pole shafts using an overhead crane and gather parts and materials to complete the projectOther duties as required and/or assignedImportant Details about the Role:
Setup, operate, and perform general maintenance of equipment without difficultyMake mathematical calculations in preparing product or setting up the machineryThe employee must maintain a safe and productive work environment producing a quality product which is shipped complete and on time to satisfy the needs of the customerThe employee has a direct impact on safety, quality, productivity, and deliveryThis position reports to the Production SupervisorRequired Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):
Successful completion of an internal welding testWorking knowledge of fixturing and weld set up parameters (amps, volts, etc.)Knowledge of welding properties of a variety of metalsThe ability to read and interpret blueprints and/or shop drawingsThe ability to set up work and determine operation sequenceThe ability to calculate formulas using basic mathematics and standard U.S. and Metric MeasurementsThe ability to recognize and solve practical problems or issuesThe ability to work in a team environment with a diverse group of peopleThe ability to pay attention to detail and follow work instructionsThe ability to meet production, safety, and quality standards in a high-paced working environmentThe ability to lift up to 50 pounds, with most frequent lift up to 20 poundsWear required personal protective equipment and follow facility safety regulationsMaintain a safe and productive working environmentHighly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED equivalentGraduation from an accredited trade school for weldingThree years or more of previous experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environmentOne or more years of previous experience welding in a professional environmentMust have a high awareness for safety at all timesMust be a person of passion and integrity who has the drive to excel and deliver exceptional resultsBenefits
