Subrogation Attorney
Subrogation Attorney As a part of our Subrogation team, you will work as a full-time attorney for Conduent Payment Integrity Solution's in-house, legal department. Conduent is a company that provides post-payment recovery services in the healthcare industry. **Responsibilities** + Supporting subrogation/reimbursement recovery operations by providing counsel to the Subrogation Unit to achieve healthcare cost containment for our clients. + Possessing and applying knowledge of the legal foundations of Healthcare Subrogation as well as current, in-depth knowledge of applicable laws impacting Healthcare Subrogation at the State and Federal levels, including Medicare and Medicaid. + Actively monitor and stay informed of Healthcare Subrogation legislative and judicial developments. + Analyzing legal doctrines, statutes, case law, etc., to provide opinions/guidance surrounding applicability/impact to/on given Healthcare Subrogation matters. + Utilizing your understanding of motor vehicle accidents, slip and fall accidents, product liability, workers' compensation, medical malpractice, and mass torts in order to enforce our clients’ healthcare subrogation and/or reimbursement rights. + Evaluating legal basis for subrogation claims to develop and execute strategies for the successful resolution of same, including but not limited to reviewing and understanding our clients’ rights based on health plan terms. + Reviewing and addressing court documents relative to underlying cases which led to potential Healthcare Subrogation claims. + Participating in mediations as necessary to advocate for our clients’ position(s) on legal issues involving Healthcare Subrogation. + Negotiating settlements of Healthcare Subrogation matters with liable parties (3rd party insurance, 1st party insurance, etc.). Drafting client memorandums outlining positions, settlement documents, etc., as needed to bring matters to closure. + Assisting in development of internal policies/procedures and training of staff. + Overseeing outside counsel when litigation becomes necessary in connection with Healthcare Subrogation matters. + Conducting legal research and providing guidance regarding same for Subrogation Unit, as necessary. + Providing consult to our clients relative to matters of Healthcare Subrogation as situations warrant. + Handling and prioritizing a variety of tasks and interfacing with multiple departments, as well as external clients and other attorneys. + Managing own case load of Healthcare Subrogation matters. + Ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations throughout all processes. + Working in an in-house, collegial environment. **Requirements** + Have 3+ years of experience as a licensed attorney and a J.D. from an accredited law school. + The ideal candidate will have experience with personal injury matters (including workers’ compensation), litigation and/or subrogation of healthcare liens. + Be licensed to practice law in at least one state. + Must have strong written and verbal communication skills, along with legal research and writing abilities. + Must have the ability to manage your time and prioritize your work in order to meet deadlines. + Must be able to work both individually and as a team. **Flexible Working** At Conduent, we want you to be yourself.
