We are seeking a Senior Researcher to contribute to AIR’s Center for Addiction Research and Effective Solutions (AIR CARES), focused on preventing addiction, addressing the needs of those impacted by addiction, and elevating the voices of people with lived experience. Related projects’ aims are to use culturally responsive science to advance the evidence-base in the following areas, including but not limited to:
Applying a socioecological framework and a social determinants of health (SDOH) lens to addiction-related work including improving outcomes at the intersection of addiction and:HousingEducationAccess to quality healthcareSocial and community contextEmployment and economic mobilitySocial epidemiology of substance use disorder (SUD) and chronic diseaseDrug policy and reformCommunity and societal level prevention solutions that promote health for marginalized groupsSystems change and community-based participatory researchMeaningful participation of people with lived experience in research.This position has the flexibility to work remote from anywhere in the United States or from any of AIR's U.S. office locations. This does not include U.S. territories.

ResponsibilitiesThe responsibilities for the position include:
Work directly with AIR CARES, providing proposal and project leadership for major contract and grant research projects by shaping the vision for the work and supporting project teams in developing and executing the workFollow sound project management practices to ensure timely completion of all deliverables within budgetMaintain high-quality research standards that meet client requirementsCollaborate within and outside AIR, including with program providers, subject matter experts, as well as federal, state, and local agency officialsManage, with attention to detail, fast-paced projects of moderate to high complexity, including effective budget management, quality control, anticipating needs, and staff managementCommunicate regularly with clients and internal team members to gather feedback, sustain project momentum, and respond to day-to-day needsMonitor, coordinate, and provide work direction to assigned project staff and/or subcontractors, including review of their work to ensure accuracy, completeness, and adherence to quality standards, policies, and proceduresCultivate and manage client relationships, including management and balancing of internal and external priorities and goalsManage client expectations on a project or strategic levelBased on client needs, design and facilitate processes and materials which translate research and best practices for work sessions, professional development and/or training for clientsSupport new business development efforts, including proposal writing, and position work to capitalize on future business opportunitiesCreate and disseminate communication strategies on Social Determinants of Health (SDOH), public health, prevention, and health promotion QualificationsEducation, Knowledge, and Experience:
PhD in Public Health, Social Science, or closely related field with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience conducting substance-use related research or Master’s degree with 7 years of related work experienceExperience designing and implementing advanced quantitative analyses, particularly multilevel longitudinal modelingExperience with social network analysis, specifically organizational network analysis and developing high quality visualizations using software such as Gephi, R, or othersKnowledge and experience in topics related to SDOHExperience leading successful federally funded research grant proposals (e.g., R01, K, R25) Interest in community empowerment and elevating the voices of people with lived and living experienceFirm understanding of implementation science, translational research, and public policyExperience managing project and/or task teams on projectsSkills:
Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy when writingDetail oriented, follows best practices for working with data and codingExcellent interpersonal skills to ensure effective communication with individuals at all levels and from diverse backgrounds and the ability to produce concise, high-level summaries and briefings accessible to broad audiencesAbility to take big ideas and develop work plans and timelines and lead teamsCommitment to addressing the impacts of systemic biases in how research is conducted Ability to collaborate effectively in a virtual work environment.Disclosures:

AIR’s Total Rewards Program, is designed to reward our staff competitively and motivate them to achieve our critical mission. This position offers an anticipated annual salary of $118,000 - $145,000. Salary offers are made based on internal equity within the institution and external equity with competitive markets. Please note this is the annual salary range for candidates that are based in the United States.
