Substation Civil Designer Job Summary

POWER Engineers is currently seeking a Substation Civil Designer/Drafter to perform engineering design activities for electrical substations.  This position is in the Power Delivery Substation Department in our Freeport, Maine office.  Flexibility is available for a hybrid work environment (employee will need to live within driving distance of the office).

Roles and Responsibilities All aspects of electrical civil design including permitting support, site design, foundation design, structure design, and control building design.  The successful candidate will be responsible for learning, understanding, and implementing CAD knowledge; learning client standards, practices, and procedures to ensure that work produced conforms to the client's standards and expectations; being responsible for knowing and following POWER's standards, procedures, and processes; collaborating on design issues; and seeking guidance from those with more experience Preparation of drawing packages to satisfy client and code requirements Occasional travel will be required Required Education/Experience Associates/technical degree in an accredited drafting program, or sufficient industry experience Three (3) years civil design/drafting experience with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation, preferably in an engineering work environment Ability to successfully participate in multiple projects concurrently Mechanical reasoning skills and attention to detail The candidate must have strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills in order to work effectively with other team members Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without the need for work sponsorship Desired Education/Experience Experience in electric utility substation design (15kV through 500kV) is a plus Experience with AutoCAD Civil3D or Microstation Open-Roads (In-Roads) are beneficial Experience with Autodesk Raster Design or Bentley Descartes Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel Good background with mathematics
