Substation Engineer Job Summary

POWER Engineers is currently seeking a Substation Engineer to work in the Power Delivery Substation Department of our Portland office located in Lake Oswego, Oregon. Flexibility is available for a hybrid work environment with the ability to work remotely from any mutually acceptable location. 

Responsibilities Adhere to client standards and processes while working independently and within a team to design complex utility substations Perform and direct others in the detailed design of medium to extra-high voltage substations, including: One-line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams Protection & Control, SCADA, communications Physical layouts, sections/elevations, conduit and cable routing Grounding, lightning protection, yard lighting AC/DC systems sizing, control enclosure design, material lists Participate in quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) programs Support proposal development, site visits, construction, project reporting, mentorship, and client relationships Occasional travel Required Education/Experience BSEE (BS Electrical Engineering), BSEET (BS Electrical Engineering Technology), or BSREE (BS Renewable Energy Engineering) from an accredited university, preferably with a power option Knowledge and understanding of electrical engineering and electrical utility substations, equipment, and design Strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills to work effectively with internal team members and external client personnel Legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without the need for work sponsorship Desired Education/Experience Three (3) or more years of experience in utility substation design Engineering Intern (EI) certificate, Engineer In Training (EIT) certificate, or passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam Professional Engineering license (PE) Experience in 230kV to 500kV systems adhering to IEEE/ANSI standards Ability to lead project teams and manage personnel Proficiency using industry software applications including Bluebeam Revu, Microsoft Office 365, Bentley ProjectWise/MicroStation, Autodesk Vault/AutoCAD/AutoCAD Electrical/Inventor, Spatial Business Systems Substation Design Suite, etc.
