Description

Our client is an engineering consulting firm with offices in Calgary and Regina that provides design and engineering services to the electric power delivery industry. The expertise includes all aspects of Transmission, Substation and Distribution systems for voltages ranging from 4160V to 500kV. They are currently seeking an Electrical Engineer to join the team in Calgary to support the substation design group. The project they will be impacting from the start is the interconnection for a solar farm with AltaLink (Buffalo Plains). The ideal candidate will have around 6-10 years industry exp. 4-5 of which is with P&C for substations.

Job Qualifications

5+ years industry exp. within electrical utilities5+ years exp. in Substation engineeringDesign of cable trays, Bus work (these are the outdoor conductors that connect the different equipment)Past exp. using MicroStation and AutoCADSoftware – Microstation – Must have if intermediate if a senior person can get away with not having a lot of exp.Drafting and Design (depending on the person)Detailed design (not settings or studies), someone who can do schematics and diagramsTechnical knowledge and understanding of electric transmission system operation, maintenance, performance, power equipment and substation design;B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering.Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and initiatives.
