Job Title: Substation Engineer
Job Description

One of the largest and top performing construction & engineering organizations is hiring a Substation Engineer to perform duties on a 5-year power delivery project for a large electric services company. This role supports a long-term multi-year program with a major utility provider in the NW Territory. The engineering firm is tasked to manage the PMO operations of a wildfire mitigation program.

ResponsibilitiesServe as a client-facing representative, capable of managing both upwards and downwardsOversee multi-disciplinary projects involving electrical, structural, and transmission aspectsCollaborate with various disciplines, including electrical, structural, and transmission teamsManage projects directly under a Project Manager (PM)Take on and manage scopes of work, including overseeing substation designs and junior engineers on projectsDevelop and maintain schedules for quality control (QC) checks and construction timelinesMentor and manage a small team of junior engineersEssential SkillsProfessional Engineer (PE) License strongly preferred7+ years of experience in substation engineering & design, including managing scope of work, and overseeing junior engineers' designs/deliverablesBachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from an ABET accredited universityExperience with leading projects relating to substation, transmission, and distribution projects ranging from 12kV to 500kVExperience mentoring and/or managing junior engineersUnderstanding of how electrical, transmission, and structural teams integrateProficiency in project managementKnowledge of relay, MicroStation, AutoCAD, NESC, NEC, NEMA, IEEE, ANSI, and PLS CADDAdditional Skills & QualificationsStrong client-facing skills with the ability to manage up and downExperience in running multi-disciplinary jobs across electrical, structural, and transmission fieldsProven ability to collaborate effectively with different disciplinesExperience in project management, particularly under the guidance of a PMAbility to manage scopes of work and lead junior engineersProficiency in scheduling and maintaining QC and construction schedulesLeadership skills to mentor and manage 2+ junior engineersWork Environment

The work environment features a brand new large office with large windows, electric powered stand-up desks, and a 45+ person capacity cafeteria. It is a collaborative environment with other departments included in the office. This is a 100% in-office role with flexibility around needs to work from home when necessary. The office has a casual dress code and provides a strong benefits package, including a 401k plan, weekly pay periods, PTO rollover policy, and schedule accommodations approved by the regional manager.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $126000.00 - $148000.00

- 401k 100% up to 6%.
- 52 pay periods per year (every week)
- PTO rolls over to next year. Employees can roll over up to 40 hours to the following year.
- Flexible with schedule accommodations DOE and need to be approved by regional manager.

This is a fully onsite position in Salt Lake City,UT.
