Job Description
Our Engineering & Construction Business Unit is seeking a Project Engineer to join their team in Juno Beach, FL. This role involves planning, monitoring, and managing internal substation projects from initiation through completion, providing direction to project team members.
Responsibilities
+ Manage all assigned substation projects from conception through construction and commissioning.
+ Work with the Early-Stage Project Manager to support engineering requirements during the conceptual phase.
+ Plan, coordinate, and complete large-scale or multiple medium or small, complex, or long-term projects within budgetary and scheduling guidelines.
+ Secure required resources and use formal processes and tools to manage resources, budgets, risks, and changes.
+ Conduct project meetings, track and analyze project progress.
+ Identify issues and challenges, measure and validate results, and implement solutions.
+ Provide information to internal and external clients on moderate to complex issues.
+ Create and communicate presentation materials for report updates with various stakeholders.
+ Oversee training, due diligence, and technical oversight of external engineers of record for all assigned substation projects.
+ Secure engineering consulting resources by developing scopes of work, securing bids, evaluating, and awarding work.
+ Coordinate with project stakeholders to develop and secure a substation site, support engineering updates, data, and permits.
+ Ensure successful completion of assigned E&C substation projects, including presenting progress, issues, and risk mitigation to management.
+ Support Transmission Services during review of interconnection documentation and ensure compliance with Transmission Owner requirements.
+ Manage all project long lead major material orders to minimize risk of delays or budget overruns.
+ Support E&C Estimating with template updates via project feedback and technical support.
+ Work collaboratively with project engineering resources to determine project priorities and work plans.
+ Ensure projects are efficiently, cost-effectively, and safely implemented in accordance with department processes and industry standards.
+ Support assigned project commissioning activities.
+ Assist Legal in regulatory filings, depositions, and/or hearings.
+ Collaborate with component OEMs to enhance or adapt their designs.
+ Conduct external research and stay updated on new developments or advancements pertaining to the project.
+ Provide coaching, leadership, and direction to the project team.
+ Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Essential Skills
+ Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil/Structural Engineering is preferred.
+ 5+ years of experience in substation design and engineering of High Voltage substation projects is highly preferred.
+ Project Engineering and/or Project Management experience with a strong bias for action.
+ PMP and/or P.E. in related discipline is a plus.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience in project management, substation engineering, and substation design.
+ Proficiency in Autocad, design, electrical engineering, and power distribution.
Work Environment
This is an onsite opportunity available in Juno Beach, FL. Candidates located anywhere in Florida close to Juno Beach could be a good option for hybrid work if they meet the necessary qualifications. Other options available that are remote.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $70.00/hr.
