Description:
Physical layout:
A substation physical layout engineer is responsible for the design and layout of electrical substations. This includes tasks such as: Developing substation layouts Preparing design drawings and specifications Conducting site surveys Analyzing substation loads Evaluating substation equipment Overseeing substation construction Substation physical layout engineers must have a strong understanding of electrical engineering principles and practices. They must also be able to work effectively with other engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders.
A substation protection and control (P&C) engineer is responsible for the design of the protection and control systems for electrical substations. This includes the design of relay protection schemes, the selection of protection equipment, and the development of operating procedures. P&C engineers must have a strong understanding of electrical engineering principles and be able to work independently and as part of a team.
Here are some of the specific duties of a substation P&C engineer: Design, install, and maintain the protection and control systems for electrical substations Develop relay protection schemes Select protection equipment Develop operating procedures Perform engineering calculations Prepare technical reports Stay up-to-date on the latest technologies
