POWER Engineers is seeking an Electrical Engineer/Designer with experience in substation protection and control (P&C) design to work out of the Power Delivery Substation Department of our Billings, Montana office. There are potential opportunities for remote, hybrid, or in-office working conditions. Employee is required to live within driving distance of the office.
ResponsibilitiesThe Substation P&C Design Electrical Engineer/Designer will share responsibility with the rest of the department to produce a product consistent with POWER's mission statement and our culture. They are expected to support the department in achieving the department goals, maintain POWER's high-quality standards, promote internal teamwork, and meet the needs of our clients.
Perform and direct others in the detailed design of medium to high-voltage utility substationsPerform detailed design, including one-line diagrams, protection and control schematics, elementary and wiring diagrams, SCADA, communications, conduit, and cable sizing/routing, and selection of substation P&C equipmentOccasional travel will be requiredRequired Education/Experience BSEE (BS Electrical Engineering) or BSREE (BS Renewable Energy Engineering), BSEET (BS Electrical Engineering Technology) degree, Associates degree, or equivalent technical educationExperience in 15kV through 138kV substation design and IEEE/ANSI standardsMust be able to take a written scope document and develop a detailed P&C substation design and drawing package using good engineering judgement and industry/client standards with minimal oversightExperience filling the substatin P&C design engineer role for multiple concurrent projects (brownfield and greenfield projects)Three (3) ore more years of experience in utility substation design, as outlined aboveExperience with MIcrosoft Office Suite, with an emphasis on Excel and WordStrong knowledge and understanding of electrical engineering to build onStrong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills in order to work effectively with internal team members and external client personnelLegally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without the need for work sponsorshipDesired Education/ExperienceEngineer In Training certificate (EIT) or successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examProfessional Engineering license (PE) is a plusExperience in 230kV through 500kV substation design is a plusExperience with MicroStation (V8 or newer) or AutoCAD (2016 or newer) is a plusExperience performing P&C design in AutoCad ElectricalAt POWER Engineers, you can have a rewarding career on every level.
