Flexibility is available to work remotely, hybrid, or onsite, depending on the candidate's location and preferences. **Responsibilities** + The position includes working within a team to complete complex and technically challenging aspects of electrical utility substation design and understanding and adhering to client standards. + Perform the detailed Physical design of medium to extra high voltage utility substations. Typical designs include but are not limited to: + One-line diagrams + Physical layouts + Substation equipment selection + Substation general arrangement plans, sections, and elevations + Control building design and details + Cable and conduit plans and details + Ground grid design and details + Lightning protection design and details + Yard lighting design and details + Material lists + AC and DC systems calculations and sizing + Work with engineers to develop drawing packages + Coordinate designs with other disciplines such as Substation Protection & Control, Structural, and Civil + Participate in quality assurance and quality control programs + Contribute to engineering project scheduling and budget management **Required Education/Experience** + Associate's degree or equivalent technical education + Extensive experience with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation + Experience in electric utility substation physical design + Electrical and mechanical reasoning skills and attention to detail + Good command of the Microsoft Office Suite, with an emphasis on Outlook, Excel and Word + Strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills in order to work effectively with internal team members and external client personnel + Legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without the need for work sponsorship Desired Education/Experience + 4 or more years’ experience providing physical design for electric utility substation projects up to 500 KV + Familiarity with Raster Design and/or Bentley Descartes + Ability to produce applicable drawings from rough sketches, notes, client examples, vendor drawings, and such + Ability to select materials based on technical requirements At POWER Engineers, you can have a rewarding career on every level.
