Flexibility is available for a hybrid work environment (employee will need to live within driving distance of the office). **Roles and Responsibilities** + The position includes working within a team to complete complex and technically challenging aspects of electrical utility substation design and understanding and adhering to client standards. + Perform the detailed Physical design of medium to extra high voltage utility substations. Typical designs include but are not limited to: + One-line diagrams + Physical layouts + Substation equipment selection + Substation general arrangement plans, sections, and elevations + Control building design and details + Cable and conduit plans and details + Ground grid design and details + Lightning protection design and details + Yard lighting design and details + Material lists + AC and DC systems calculations and sizing + Work with engineers to develop drawing packages + Coordinate designs with other disciplines such as Substation Protection & Control, Structural, and Civil + Participate in quality assurance and quality control programs + Contribute to engineering project scheduling and budget management **Required Education/Experience** + Ability to function as a Substation Physical Designer in our Augusta office located in Hallowell, Maine. + Associate's degree or equivalent technical education + Experience with AutoCAD or MicroStation; experience with both is preferred + Understanding of electric utility substation design + Electrical and mechanical reasoning skills and attention to detail + Good command of the Microsoft Office Suite, with an emphasis on Outlook, Excel and Word. + The candidate must have strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills in order to work effectively with internal team members and external client personnel + Candidate must be legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without the need for work sponsorship **Desired Education/Experience** + Three (3) or more years of experience in electric utility substation design is preferred + Familiarity with Raster Design and/or Bentley Descartes + Ability to produce applicable drawings from rough sketches, notes, client examples, vendor drawings, and such. + Ability to select materials based on technical requirements At POWER Engineers, you can have a rewarding career on every level.
