Job Title: Substation Physical Designer
Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Substation Physical Designer to work under the direction of the Physical Group Lead. You will collaborate with a team to complete substation physical design projects that meet client standards and practices. Your role involves developing high-quality deliverables such as General Arrangements, Equipment Plans, Elevations, Sections, Control House Layouts, Grounding analysis/design, Switchgear design, Conduit and Cable design, and Bills of Material using AutoCAD. You will also maintain strong customer relationships, estimate and prepare bid packages, and attend scoping meetings as needed. Completing assignments within budget and schedule with high accuracy is essential. Additionally, you will mentor other designers/engineers, check/review work for accuracy, and promote a strong safety culture within the team.
Responsibilities
+ Develop high-quality deliverables using AutoCAD.
+ Collaborate with the team to complete substation physical design projects.
+ Maintain strong customer relationships through effective communication and support.
+ Estimate and assist in the preparation of bid packages.
+ Attend scoping meetings as requested.
+ Complete assignments within budget and schedule with high accuracy.
+ Mentor other designers/engineers to increase knowledge of substation design.
+ Check/review other personnel work for accuracy and adherence to standards.
+ Independently evaluate, select, and apply engineering principles and practices.
+ Share updates with the team to improve communications and quality.
+ Promote a strong safety culture and advocate safe work practices.
+ Identify potential areas of engineering process and/or procedure improvements.
Essential Skills
+ Understanding of high voltage substation outdoor equipment.
+ Ability to identify, analyze, and solve technical problems related to substation design.
+ Ability to work independently with direction.
+ Strong working relationships with Management, Program Manager, Project Manager, Group Leads, and design staff.
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
+ Willingness to develop, promote, and comply with quality and safety requirements.
+ Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Microsoft Office Suite, and specific technical applications.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Associate's degree or better in Engineering Technology or related field preferred.
+ Minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible experience in 69kV to 500kV substation physical design required.
+ Experience in generation plant switchyard physical design is desirable.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $38.00 - $45.67
