BASIC FUNCTION & RESPONSIBILITY: In the absence of a Teacher or Support Staff, follow regular lesson plans to ensure consistency and instruction continues without interruption.

 

ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma and/or GED Texas Certified or college degree preferred

 KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

Ability to work well with children and adults Ability to communicate verbally and written effectively Background working with children in educational setting, preferred

Instructional and Student Support:

Follow teacher plans and present information and instruction to help students learn the subject matter and skills. Maintain instruction that is compatible with the school and system-wide curriculum goals. Interact effectively with students, parents, and staff. Adhere to established laws, policies, rules, and regulations as presented in the Substitute Handbook and online District policies.

 

SUPERVISION EXERCISED: Provide guidance and direction as assigned.

 

MENTAL DEMANDS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:

Tools/Equipment Used: Personal computer and peripherals; standard instructional equipment; [P.E. teachers: automated external defibrillator (AED)] Posture: Prolonged standing; frequent kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting Motion: Frequent walking Lifting: Regular light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds); may lift and move textbooks and classroom equipment. Environment: Work inside, may work outside; regular exposure to noise Mental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress; work prolonged or irregular hours
