Applications are continuously being accepted for this position SUBSTITUTE LICENSED PRACTICAL NURSE: 10-Month School Calendar Position LPN positions involve caring for the medical needs of students placed in BOCES classrooms which are located in a Special Education Host Site program. Assistance with all medical aspects of the students’ day is expected. Students need assistance with areas of daily living skills which may include, but are not limited to: + Personal care + Feeding - may or may not include tubal feeding + Monitoring during and after feeding + Toileting - may or may not include diapering + Maintaining safety during transitions + Redirection + Task initiation + Communication + Interacting with others and supervision of sensory activities and routines + Regular assessment of respiratory needs + The employee must possess a valid NYS Licensed Practical Nurse license and be physically able and willing to meet the needs of the students. + Dispensing medications, under direction of R.N. + Completing Medicaid paperwork, under the direction of R.N. + Assist with student arrival and departure + Help students carry out prescribed physical exercises + Helps student with daily living skills/hygiene + Follows medical protocol + Other duties as assigned Job Qualifications Civil Service Non-Competitive Classification + High School Diploma or GED and completion of one year of course work at a regionally accredited NYS registered College or University OR; + One year of full-time or equivalent part-time/volunteer experience which shall have involved direction or oversight of the activities of children or youth OR; + An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits above; experience in working with disabled students is preferred.
