Substitute Teacher- IDEA Tampa Bay Region (24-25)
Description

Role Mission: In the absence of the classroom teacher, the substitute teacher provides instruction and manages the learning environment. The substitute is responsible for always ensuring student safety by actively supervising scholars while maintaining a positive environment. This position reports directly to the Regional Substitute Staffing Manager and is managed at the campus level for day-to-day assignments by the administrative assistant, campus principal and instructional lead team.

What We Offer

 

Compensation: 

$130 per day for Bachelor's degreed subs. $100 per day for non-degreed substitute teachers. An increase in pay occurs when a substitute works a long-term assignments (+10 consecutive days on the same assignment) up to $170 per day.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree preferred and at least 1 year of experience working with children. Pass a background check

 

Knowledge and Skills:

Able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language. A belief that a college education is possible for all children, and a commitment to developing a school-wide culture that fosters a productive, enthusiastic learning environment.

What You’ll Do -- Accountabilities

 

Expectations:

Work a minimum of 2 assignments a weekBe on time and complete all scheduled assignmentsHours: 7:15 a.m. – 4:15 p.m.Execute lesson plans and perform all other duties as assigned. Ensure student safetyMaintain positive learning environment

In this role you will: 

 

Perform substitute duties as assignedFollow substitute plans as indicated by administration or absent teacher. Conduct assigned classes at the scheduled timesComplete additional duties, which could include hallway, lunch or recess monitoringMaintain a safe learning environment utilizing the campus behavior management system and resourcesActively monitors students at all timesUse positive reinforcement when responding to studentsComplete Professional Development and comply with all legal requirementsComplete assigned professional development and compliance courses (synchronous or asynchronous) upon hire, and throughout the school year as needed. Follows professional practices and regulations consistent with IDEA systems and policies in working with students, students’ records, parents, and colleagues.Implement feedback received from campus leadership and/or Regional Substitute Staffing ManagerUse IDEA e-mail account for all communication and respond to all communication within 24 hours.Dress in a manner consistent with school policies. Enforce regulations concerning student conduct and discipline. Establish and maintain a cooperative working relationship with students and families based on trust, understanding, and respect for the communities in which they identify.   Maintain student confidentiality. Model correct use of English oral and written language. Contribute in a positive way to the school-wide cultureAssume responsibility for supervising students in out-of-class settings while on campus. Ensure accuracy of Frontline – our substitute management and scheduling toolWork a minimum of 2 assignments per weekCancel assignment(s) with a 48-hour advance noticeIn an emergency cancelation, contact the school and manager before 6:45 a.m.Review Frontline records weekly to ensure accuracyFulfill all additional “Long-Term Substitute” expectations if you accept such an assignmentWork 5 days a weekParticipate in on-going professional development for implementing curriculumReview curriculum, prepare and adapt lesson plansInput student grades in a timely mannerLong-Term Substitutes are expected to utilize the teacher planning period to complete additional responsibilities.Work is not to be completed outside the hours of 7:15 – 4:15
