Job Title: SUE TechnicianJob Description We are seeking a skilled SUE Technician who will be responsible for underground utility flagging and designation, utilizing ground penetrating radar and electromagnetic equipment. The ideal candidate will have an understanding of ASCE 38-02 standards and be capable of designating all types of utility lines including water, sewer, gas, electric, and more. This role involves operating vacuum excavation trucks, maintaining equipment, and researching utilities prior to site entry. Responsibilities + Obtain a clear understanding of ASCE 38-02 standards and their applications. + Provide underground utility flagging and designation with proficiency utilizing ground penetrating radar and electromagnetic equipment. + Designate all utility line types, including conductive and non-conductive materials. + Mark utilities with flags and/or paint and produce a sketch of the results. + Operate vacuum excavation trucks and other related equipment or hand dig to verify utility characteristics. + Assist with the maintenance of vehicles, equipment, and work sites. + Research all utilities that may be on a site prior to entering the site. Essential Skills + Surveying + CAD + Land surveying + Drafting + Civil engineering + Topography + AutoCAD + Subsurface utility engineering + Utility locating + Ground-penetrating radar + Vacuum excavation + Blueprint interpretation + Underground utilities Additional Skills & Qualifications + High School diploma or specialized training from a vocational or technical school. + Experience using electromagnetic and geophysical designating technologies is a plus. + Basic computer skills with the ability to learn and understand new software. + Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving history. + Ability to travel up to 50% of the time if needed. + Ability to carry and lift equipment as needed. + Knowledge of equipment setup for different work situations. Work Environment The SUE Technician will work in the field as part of a team consisting of 3 SUE crews and 4 survey crews. The role requires work in various field conditions starting at 7:30 AM.
