Job Description
We are seeking two entry-level SUE Technicians to join our team. Candidates should have some experience in surveying and will receive training under our experienced management team.
ResponsibilitiesLocate, review, and research job locations to identify landmarks, physical objects, and significant land changes affecting the survey.Supervise the survey crew, evaluate priorities, and coordinate work efforts.Ensure work standards are met and derive necessary field calculations from completed work.Maintain and care for instruments and equipment.Ensure collected data such as angles and distances are accurate and conform to regulations and standards.Coordinate survey findings with engineering personnel, clients, and other project stakeholders.Research previous survey evidence, maps, deeds, and other records to obtain necessary data for surveys.Establish or reestablish survey control using appropriate methods and procedures.Keep accurate notes, records, and sketches to describe work performed.Complete daily logs, expense reports, and safety forms, ensuring all crew members follow safety procedures.Consult with computer operators and review the final production of work.Familiarity with commonly used surveying terms and proficiency in using and caring for survey tools and equipment.Essential SkillsHigh School diploma or GED.At least 2 years of survey experience.Willingness to travel.Proficiency with survey equipment (total stations and GPS).Experience working outside regularly, preferably in extreme conditions.Willingness to work on a vacuum excavation truck for utility locating.Valid driver's license and acceptable motor vehicle record.Ability to pass a drug test.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience with subsurface utility engineering (utility designating and locating) is preferred but not required.Good technical skills.Behavioral traits such as being process-oriented, steady, helpful, honest, trustworthy, adaptable, analytical, and a problem solver.Ability to work alone when required, methodical, consistent, detail-oriented, precise, and structured.Work Environment
The position is based out of the Raleigh, NC office. The majority of time will be spent in the field, with potential travel within NC, SC, and VA. If travel requires an overnight stay, compensation will be provided. The primary workload is within a daily commute, with an expectation of up to 60% travel.
