Job Description
Nationwide is seeking Master's & PhD level candidates for an Analytic Engineer Intern role joining the Enterprise Analytics Office (EAO) from May to August 2025 in Columbus, Ohio.
The Analytic Engineer team works with Data Scientists to transform AI/ML models into integrated solutions contributing to company success. As an Analytic Engineer intern, you will design, develop and deploy automated solutions to deliver consumable data products and actionable insights to business partners. Interested candidates must understand application design, programming principles, and cloud technologies with the ability to code, test, debug, optimize, document, and maintain complex application programs while being competent to work on most phases of development life-cycle with provided instruction and guidance in phases.
Candidates should have a graduate degree in any of the following areas: Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Web Development, Information Technology, or related fields.
Required Experience: Candidates should demonstrate hands on experience with the following expectations:
Programming with multiple programming/scripting languages (Python, R, Java, Shell)Writing and debugging SQL queriesKnowledge of common Linux/Unix commands and functionsMust be an accomplished self-learner, demonstrating an awareness of technology trends and ability to learn and teach with limited formal trainingAnalyzes and resolves moderately complex issues related to application support and loggingImplement solutions with complex business requirements and systems integrationsCollaborate, coordinate, and communicate across teamsPrepares detailed specifications, requirements, scope documents, and logic flowcharts for the development and implementation of the most complex application programs and modificationsApplication testing to ensure that the provided solution is executable, testable, complete and not ambiguous while meeting all end-user requirementsUnderstanding of the data science development lifecycle
