Position Summary:

As a participant in the Belk Internship Program, you will gain real word experience and exposure to various functional areas of Customer Analytics, Marketing Effectiveness, and Data Science. You will focus on learning the multifaceted marketing operations and marketing analytics used across the organization. Interns will analyze customers’ omni and in-store behavior, as well as generate and distribute insights, analysis, and reports to the business. Projects will include analyzing campaign performances, identifying the right audiences, creating tableau dashboards, and making recommendations to drive more sales, trips, and loyalty. You will gain experience through structured shadowing assignments, data systems, and working with your manager and mentor. 

The Internship Program provides exposure to senior leaders, professional development workshops, structured assignments, and social events over the 10 weeks in the Summer. The internship will be hybrid this summer. You will primarily work remotely, but we will bring you onsite to Charlotte a few times over the summer.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

Conduct some data engineering/mining skills (collecting, transforming, cleaning, and analyzing)

Provide structured statistical analysis to identify high-value business opportunities

Define and analyze customer behaviors to identify opportunities for site optimization, marketing campaigns, or store traffic

Analyze reports of marketing effectiveness performance and provide dashboards or one-pagers to the business

Exposure to different databases, systems, connections, and 3rd party data sets to hone analytical skills

Complete ad-hoc projects as needed

Requirements/Qualifications:

Rising college senior planning to graduate in December 2025 or Spring 2026

Preferred majors in Business Analysis, MIS, Economics, or Data Science

Proven strong academic performer (GPA of 3.2 or higher preferred) 

Leadership skills that include professional business ethics, confidence and self-motivation

Strong statistical skills with ability to conduct regression and classification analysis, summarize results in a dashboard, draw conclusions and take action

Strong business communication skills and ability to communicate data in a simple way

Technical skills in SQL, Python, R, and Tableau

Advanced level in Excel is required
