In this paid internship, you’ll be empowered to work on challenging and complex issues in a collaborative environment with other talented interns. Over the 10-week program, you’ll participate in business projects, mentoring, leadership development training and team-building activities designed to set you up for professional success. The summer Internship program runs June through August, with flexible dates available, based on school schedules. Interns who perform well and demonstrate a commitment to our values of integrity, creativity, teamwork, passion and excellence may be extended employment opportunities with Western Alliance Bank.

Financial Controls is led by the Financial Control Director and is part of the broader Finance and Accounting organization at Western Alliance Bank. The department reports to the Chief Accounting Officer and is responsible for Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) and FDICIA compliance as well as Regulatory Reporting Oversight which ensures that the bank’s financial statements and regulatory reports are complete and accurate and that internal controls in place and operating effectively.

Interns that have worked on the team in the past have assisted with internal controls testing, development of fraud assessments, and maintaining the system of record. Interns are often given individual assignments that they can execute on their own after initial coaching as well as help other team members with long term department assignments which require collaboration. Interns can expect to have choices on what they would like to work on based on various available tasks and their individual interests.
You may be a fit for the program if you meet certain eligibility requirements, including:
Undergraduate students currently enrolled in Finance or Accounting with an interest in audit and/or internal controls based on exposure in college courses.GPA of 3.0 or higher Strong analytical, conceptual, communication and organizational skills.Ability to self-motivate and work productively without supervisionAn interest in working in the Commercial Business Banking industryTo be eligible for this program, you must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a permanent basis. We do not offer any type of employment-based immigration sponsorship for this program.
