Freese and Nichols has a great opportunity for a Transportation Planning/Urban Planning Intern in our Dallas, TX office for Summer of 2025. Freese and Nichols is an award-winning, professional consulting firm with an outstanding reputation and culture. We serve municipalities, counties, and agencies across Texas and the southeastern United States.
The intern will be a detail-oriented individual who will contribute to public-sector client projects in a variety of dynamic service areas – multimodal transportation network planning, feasibility analysis, corridor analysis, fiscal impact assessment and project development. This role will give students the unique opportunity to learn both about Transportation planning and Urban planning.
Working closely with planners and engineers, the intern will coordinate with other disciplines to complete tasks, contribute to complex projects, and support recommendations and public decision making.
Relocation and housing are NOT provided for this internship.
Responsibilities:
Work in a collaborative environment as part of a multi-discipline team
Learn and apply knowledge, data and analysis contributing to transportation planning studies such as: multimodal network planning, smart mobility, alternatives and feasibility analyses, policy development, transportation infrastructure funding and implementation, and general traffic operations
Manage personal timeliness and technical correctness of a project to ensure high-quality work that fits within a client’s budget and expectations
QualificationsCurrent student pursuing a BS or MS degree in Transportation Planning, Urban Planning, or related degree
Graduation date of August 2025 or later
Preferred Qualifications:
Basic experience using thematic mapping/spatial analysis with GIS and social media
Student organizational involvement
