Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Quality Engineer Intern to join the Starline Team in Canonsburg, PA. The Quality Engineering intern at Starline will be have the opportunity to participate in the process of implementing the overall quality strategy for our busway manufacturing operations. This role will be a member of our QA team, responsible for driving continuous improvement initiatives, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and customer requirements.  This internship opportunity provides the an experience to be part of quality assurance within the manufacturing sector, practice leadership skills, and see a commitment to achieving operational excellence in the quality function on a day-to-day perspective of a growing business and industry.

 

What Will You Do?

Participate in the process aligning the quality assurance strategy with company goals and objectives.Partner with the QA team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.Collaborate with senior management to integrate quality initiatives into overall business strategy.Understand the implementation and maintenance of quality management systems (QMS) in compliance with industry standards (e.g., ISO 9001).Help implement, and monitor QA processes and procedures to ensure product quality and reliability.Participate in regular audits and assessments to identify areas for improvement and ensure adherence to quality standards.Learn how to drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, or other quality improvement methodologies.Analyze quality performance data to identify trends and root causes of defects.Participate in cross-functional teams to implement corrective and preventive actions.Partner with teams working with customers to understand their quality requirements to ensure their expectations are met or exceeded.Liaison with engineering drafting team as needed.Participate in monthly safety walks. Required Skills

 

Education:  Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Systems Engineering, Industrial & Manufacturing Engineering or related discipline.  Completion of one or more semesters of related coursework.

 

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

Requires close attention to detail and strong organizational skills.Must have strong verbal and written communications skills.Strong technical aptitude, particularly in the development of Excel spreadsheets.Proficient with Microsoft Office and Excel.Display strong analytical problem-solving skills and critical thinking capability.Good work ethic and demonstrated ability to meet deadlines.

Personal Qualities/Behaviors:

Primary environment: ambient room temperatures, lighting and traditional office equipment as found in a typical office environment.The performance of this position may occasionally require exposure to the manufacturing areas where under certain areas require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses and mandatory hearing protection.Regularly required to stand; walk and communicate with others.Ability to sit for extended periods of timeAbility to lift up and carry to 25 pounds
