Summer Intern, Process Engineer

Discover more about nitrogen at Nutrien! This is an open posting for Process Engineering students interested in summer internship positions at our Geismar, Louisiana facility.

 

This is a temporary, full-time, hourly paid position open to current students who will be returning to their studies once this work term is complete. This position is not available for remote work.

Work will be both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions. Outside the office, standard work wear will consist of hard hats, safety boots, safety glasses and ear plugs, with other items as needed; these items will be provided

 

Location: Geismar, Louisiana

Dates/Terms:

Summer Internship: May 19, 2025 to August 15, 2025 (Dates can be adjusted base on college schedule)

 

What you will do:

Assist the site with various duties, including: Project work

Ensures all work is done in a safe manner consistent with company, local, state, federal and health, safety and environmental regulations and procedures.

Aids in providing engineering support  for equipment optimization and degradation study efforts.

Review and update the site’s process descriptions and PFDS for all operating areas (ammonia, Urea, acid, storage, UAN/DEF) as required for site compliance with PSM 2.02.01 Process Safety Information . Review and update the site’s SOLs as required for all operating areas (ammonia, Urea, acid, storage, UAN/DEF) as required for site compliance with PSM 2.04.02 Safe Operating Limit Standard

Gains knowledge of day-to-day operations of production unit and PSM structure.  

 

What you will bring:

Currently pursuing a Bachelors’ degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent related program with a graduation date of December 2025 or later.

Strong written and verbal communication skills 

Strong analytical skills  Must be legally authorized to work in the US without sponsorship Must be able to work at heights, outdoors, and around potentially hazardous chemicals Must be able to hear and understand audible alarms, changes in noise levels of rotating equipment and portable radio communications Must be familiar with Microsoft’s Office Suite
