**Description** About the Internship The Aviation Department manages five airports at The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, one of the busiest airport systems in the country. Within the Aviation Department, the Strategic Analysis & Forecasting team sits within the Aviation Strategy unit and oversees Airline Activity Data Collection & Reporting, Airline Activity Forecasting, and Industry Analysis. In this internship, the candidate will be able to apply their data analysis, visualization, and/or forecasting skills to the aviation industry and support the team’s mission of providing agency and department staff with the analytical tools they need for facility planning, revenue projection, and strategic decision making. This is a great opportunity for the candidate to develop their analytical skills while simultaneously learning about the Aviation business. Responsibilities + Use data analysis and visualization tools to analyze and derive insights from aviation datasets + Assist with developing innovative methodologies for forecasting passenger volumes + Help conduct aviation industry research, data analyses, and prepare activity forecasts + Summarize analyses and forecasts in presentation and written formats + Create data models and dashboards in Power BI to support various data analysis tasks + Develop and implement technical solutions to enhance data collection processes + Analyze and validate monthly activity data from the region’s major airports + Lead routine meetings with internal and external stakeholders + Communicate with airlines and assist with special compliance projects Minimum Qualifications + Enrollment at a college/university through Summer 2025 and into the Fall 2025 semester + Major in Transportation Planning, Urban Planning, Engineering, Statistics, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a related analytical field Desired Qualifications + Experience with Microsoft apps such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, etc. + Strong technical background and familiarity with Microsoft Power BI and Power Apps (or similar data analysis and visualization tools) + Experience working with both qualitative and quantitative data + An interest in data collection, management, and visualization + Interest in contributing to the success of the New York and New Jersey region + Interest in public service and/or transportation Internship Details + The start date will be Thursday, May 29, 2025 + The internship will last approximately 12 weeks, ending on Friday, August 22, 2025 + This is a full-time internship (5 days per week at 7.25 hours per day) + The format is expected to be hybrid Selection Process + Only applicants under consideration will be contacted + If selected to move forward, the hiring team will reach out directly to schedule 1-2 interviews + Different internships will have different timelines for interviews Compensation & Benefits + The hourly rate range is $18.07 to $27.21 (the exact rate will be determined by internship type and rising school year) + Ability to opt in to the New York State and Local Retirement System + Access to Employee Business Resource Groups (https://www.jointheportauthority.com/pages/diversity-inclusion-programs) + Facility Tours + Career Panels + Social/Networking Events REQNUMBER: 62575
