Summer Internship
The summer internship is a ten-week rotational program designed to provide exposure to the acquisition, underwriting and transactional side of the business, as well as asset management. The Real Estate Analyst Intern Program will introduce young professionals to the commercial real estate industry by providing hands-on, rotational learning and training in areas not limited to, cash flow analysis, credit/risk analysis, financial modeling, and valuation. During the rotational program, candidates will be exposed to various groups such as Asset Management, Acquisitions, Structure and Finance, and Underwriting.
Candidates will work in the functional areas listed below and may perform (but not limited to) the outlined responsibilities.
Commercial Asset Management
Assist in providing analytical and daily asset management support on a portfolio consisting of multiple property types located in multiple markets. Perform financial modeling, analyzes the data and develops financial reports for planning, forecasting, and trending and variance analysis to actual results on asset performance. Coordinate with various departments such as accounting, property management, leasing, lease administration, and operations to facilitate required information, data, or answers to questions in order to help mold a strategy or response to a given situation.
Residential Asset Management
Work closely with asset management, property management, operations, accounting, and due diligence teams to access information necessary to participate in creating and running various analyses used to enhance decision making. Work with Asset Managers to review annual operating and capital budgets for properties. Analyze proposed revenue, operating expense, and capital expense projections.Acquisition Structure and Finance
Assist in the performance of financial reporting and modeling through excel. Perform credit analysis and reporting. Read, abstract, and analyze real estate-related documents (i.e. leases, terms sheets, loan documents, contracts, etc.) as necessary to accurately summarize and report. Assist in other day-to-day follow up and record-keeping as part of the due diligence and closing processes.
Underwriting
Perform complex excel based financial modeling and underwriting for potential real estate acquisitions. Read, abstract, and analyze real estate-related documentation (i.e. offering memorandums, term sheets, LOIs, and contracts). Perform due diligence and research of real estate markets and tenants.
