SUMMER PROGRAMS MANAGER
Summer Studios Pre-College Experience                             

This is a temporary position, filled mid-May through July 31. This position helps manage daily administrative oversight for the Watkins Community Education Young Artist Programs (ages 15-18) at Belmont that run during the month of June. The Summer Programs Manager reports to the Director of Community Education and supervises student worker counselors or program interns.

Summer Art Camp Duties:
● Arrive promptly and ready to work with a positive attitude; ability to stay in dorms on campus to supervise overnight campers and staff for duration of Summer Studios program
● Follow Watkins Community Education’s policy and protocol
● Assist with pre- and post-camp studio preparation and organization (this includes pre-camp communication with parents, preparing shopping lists for needed supplies, creating packets or carts with the instructors’ supplies, etc.)
● Maintain a welcoming, supportive environment for parents, children, teens, and staff
● Maintain clear, consistent, and respectful communication with parents, campers/teen workshop attendants, Watkins staff members, and camp instructors
● Develop and employ skills of classroom management by directly supervising participants during studio sessions, lunch, pre-camp and post-camp care, breaks, etc.
● Provide positive solutions for problem resolution, encourage dialog, and seek support for behavioral and disciplinary discussions from the Director of Community Education
● Support instructors in classroom management
● Oversee Student Worker counselors as they engage in the classroom and transition time supervision
● Assist with preparation, distribution, and clean-up of materials and supplies
● Organize supplies and keep materials stocked at all times
● Prepare materials, supplies and studio materials before camp begins and assist preparing the studio for the next class
● Directly engage with campers: encouraging art making, playing games, and facilitating positive learning experiences throughout daily camp activities
● Help prepare for, clean-up and supervise daily lunches
● Ensure projects are completed, identified, and prepared for participants to take home when completed
● Facilitate parent drop-off and pick-up of participants in a safe, organized manner
● Accept projects and additional activities as requested by the Director and camp instructors

 

Hours and Requirements:

● Dress code: Casual; closed toed shoes are required 
● Physical requirements: Occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds 
● Working conditions: Studios with children 
● Background Check: Background check required for all staff 18 + years old 
● Hours: Monday - Friday, 40 hours a week from June 8 – July 18. Flexible hours in early May and late July for program set up and clean up. Required Summer Camp Orientation.
