Job Summary: The Supervisor of Programs functions under the direct supervision of the Director. The Supervisor of Programs is responsible for coordinating the design, development, delivery, and evaluation of all programs related to adult and youth exercise, land group exercise, personal training, small group training, fitness internships as well as, provider-referred medically integrated programs at Health Place. Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to: hiring, training, supervising, and evaluating all fitness associates, exercise physiologists, land group exercise instructors, group exercise specialists, and personal trainers. The Supervisor of Programs carries out all functions and responsibilities for assigned programs/projects, such as marketing, design, implementation, etc. provides support for daily facility cleanliness and maintenance as related particularly to the group exercise rooms and the fitness floor. This person oversees scheduling fitness and group exercise team members, teaches classes and provides presentations in areas of expertise and provides coverage on the exercise floor when needed. The Supervisor of Programs ensures there is a high level of engagement between our Medical Advisory Council and participates in quarterly presentations of medical program statistics and data. This team member is also responsible for providing excellent customer service, adhering to facility and job specific customer service guidelines, participate in the marketing, promoting and selling of Health Place membership, products and services at all times with special emphasis during promotional periods. This person is responsible for the fitness department and personal training annual budget. Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions: Designs and develops all Land Based Group Fitness classes including medically integrated "A Healthier You" supervised exercise classes. * Responsible for making sure all classes are taught by qualified and certified exercise instructors and/or fitness professionals. * Evaluates all instructors to ensure safe and consistent exercise delivery. * Oversees training of new group exercise instructor team members. * Reviews group fitness schedules quarterly for addition or subtraction of ongoing classes, as well as strategically looks for new and innovative programming. * Design and implement relevant programs based on market assessment and need * Develop specialty classes aligned with strategic goals Responsible for the marketing and sales of Personal Training. * Responsible for making sure all personal training prospects are placed with the appropriate trainer and provided excellent service * Hires, trains, and evaluates all certified personal trainers to ensure safe and consistent exercise delivery. * Oversees training of new coach and mentor staff and provide continuing education for the PT/Exercise Specialist Team in the form of meetings and regular audits of each trainers skills. * Reviews numbers weekly to ensure we are on track for reaching our monthly goals Responsible for marketing and promotion of all fitness, specialty, personal training, and "A Healthier You" medically integrated programs. * Communicate plans and activities in a manner that supports strategies for member involvement * Responsible for making sure all specialty program referrals are properly responded to, and member is fully informed of program specifics * Provide information for Health Place newsletter and social media * Oversees contacting all new members to welcome them to the club and schedule their complimentary new member orientation session. Leadership * Manages all staffing needs including but not limited to hiring, firing, overall performance management, and training new team members for the exercise staff * Complete performance evaluations for all direct reports * Assist Director with creating yearly budget and ongoing management of exercise programs and personal training budget. * Responsible for meeting strategic and revenue goals for department * Manages all program and personal training revenue coming into Health Place. Performs other duties as assigned Complies with all Wellstar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct. Required Minimum Education:Bachelors Exercise Science*** Format Error Masters Exercise Science-PreferredRequired Minimum License(s) and Certification(s): All certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated.Basic Life Support or BLS - InstructorAdditional License(s) and Certification(s): A certification from American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM EP or ACSM CEP) Upon Hire Required and American Heart Association CPR instructor Upon Hire Preferred Required Minimum Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in a hospital/commercial/corporate based wellness center, experience in working with different age groups from infants to senior adults. Required and Minimum 3 years experience in supervisory/coordination role. Required Required Minimum Skills: Display strong motivation for community outreach and working with children, adults and senior adults. Displays excellent technical, interpersonal, organization, communication, and motivational skills. Displays commitment to an excellent health and wellness lifestyle. Displays competency in computer applications such as Windows. Able to exercise independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative when performing roles.
