**Job Description** **Position Title:** Superintendent, Maintenance (Power Plant) **OPEN UNTIL FILLED** **Department/Location:** Office of Chief Ops Officer; Dry Fork Station/Gillette, WY **Company:** Basin Electric Power Cooperative **Position Purpose:** Responsible to plan, organize, and direct the mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and planning and scheduling maintenance functions for the Dry Fork Station (DFS). **Essential Functions:** + Direct employees in the mechanical, electrical, instrument, maintenance planning and scheduling, and warehouse areas to ensure maintenance and service work is completed efficiently. + Hold staff meetings, as needed, with group heads to cover work being done, discuss problems, and plan future maintenance efforts. + Responsible for the section's preventative maintenance efforts which include periodic checks, inspections, and maintenance of plant mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation equipment. + Responsible for arranging outside contractors to assist in correcting major maintenance problems on plant operations or auxiliary equipment. + Coordinate all maintenance work during scheduled and unscheduled plant outages; and responsible for overseeing all necessary spare parts are ordered and maintenance equipment and tools are available. + Maintain all plant equipment in a safe manner and support all aspects of the DFS safety program. + Review job applications and interview applicants for the Maintenance section. Consult with respective supervisors to hire and motivate employees. + Review employee performance and recommend pay adjustments. + Direct training to assure all staff and hourly employees are up-to-date with current maintenance techniques and equipment. + Ensure employee and labor relation activities are conducted in a professional manner. **Qualifications** **:** + Bachelor's degree from an Engineering Accreditation Commission/Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (EAC/ABET) accredited engineering program and six years of maintenance engineering/operations experience in an operating coal-based power plant; or + High school diploma or equivalent (GED or HSED) and 10 years of maintenance experience in a coal-based power plant. + Prior experience acting as a lead, in a step-up role, or previous supervisory experience. + Demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills. + Experience in an industrial manufacturing or power generating facility. + Resume required. + The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed in this job. Prompt and regular attendance is a requirement for this position. **Typical Physical/Mental/Environmental Demands:** This position requires constant sitting; frequent lifting/carrying up to 25 pounds; and occasional lifting/carrying up to 50 pounds, pushing/pulling up to 20 pounds, standing, walking, bending/reaching, and climbing. This position works with office equipment and field tools, and requires finger dexterity, good vision/hearing, and the ability to perform close work. The incumbent must be able to verbally communicate concisely, analyze data/reports, conduct research, implement recommendations, develop plans, accomplish goals, and work under pressure. The incumbent must also be able to provide work direction, evaluate employee performance, and present information to others. This position is occasionally exposed to dirt/dust, fumes, chemicals, extreme heat/cold, noise, poor ventilation, electrical risks, confined areas, and heights up to 500 feet, which requires the use of safety equipment, including a harness, in accordance with ANSI Z359 standards.
