Superintendent, Welding (Jacket)
Job Scope:
Overall responsible for welding and construction of new build rig. Apart from being well versed in the various welding processes, to provide on-site coordination for all phases of work, including planning of consumables, welders/ subcontractors’ allocation, and detailed scheduling as per project requirements. To ensure projects are completed safely, on time.

Roles & Responsibilities: Manage the construction day-to-day operations to ensure efficiency and performance in accordance to project specification and budget. To assist and lead a team of welding workers and supervisors in ensuring all welding activities are performed in accordance with project specifications and industry standards. Lead PQR and WQT for the project by communication with all related stakeholders. Understanding of welding processes such as SMAW, GTAW, SAW, FCAW. To ensure pre and post heating requirements are carried out based on material thickness, grade, and requirements. Carry out inspections as well as resolving and monitoring welding and rectification works. To ensure inventory of consumables is always maintained at required level. Study construction drawings and plan welding sequence in conjunction with KPI plan Have weekly schedule coordination meetings with all subcontractor foremen to outline requirements of work completion, and other issues as may be required including but not limited to manpower requirements, interference coordination, inspections, and sequence of work. Distribute three-week look ahead schedules and communicate schedule requirements with all subcontractors. Maintain a high-level control around cost of all construction consumables and equipment utilised during the construction works. Implement, monitor, and drive the project schedule. Promptly notify management team of schedule and performance issues, be proactive in anticipating potential problems that may impact the project performance. Should possess strong knowledge and understanding of shipyard HSEQ regulations and rig building job certification requirements and ensure the same is communicated to the project team on a regular basis. Identify the work priorities, focus on the critical path, analyze the work problems in writing with own problems olving mentality, accurate supervision, decision-maker with a strong convincing personality, full readiness with 'Plan B' for any unexpected issues. Fully responsible for delivery of all Inspection Test Records (ITR’s) under the relevant discipline by effectively delegating to the foreman and chargehands. This must be approached with a high focus on interfacing and coordination with all other discipline supervision to remove all blocks from achieving target dates.
Qualifications: 
Education: Technical Engineering Qualification. (Diploma or equivalent) Bachelor Engineering Degree (preferred). Valid IWE / EWE Certificate Experience: For bachelor’s degree holder, at least 9-15 years of experience in shipyard and preferably involved in offshore activities and/or rig building. Diploma holders must have at least 15 years of experience in the same industry and related experience. Experienced in handling rig building and similar offshore related projects which are of high value and with technical complexities. Project management, time management and planning skills. Able to make appropriate decisions and judgments, decisive and take proper actions. Able to lead and manage new build rig construction projects. Able to coordinate and communicate with other internal & external stakeholders in new build projects. Knowledge of shipyard production trade activities. Strong Knowledge in Work pack development and system. Able to lead and manage the Toolbox Talks effectively. Able to build, encourage and lead a team. Familiar with the four most common welding types: shielded metal arc welding (SMAW), gas metal arc welding (GMAW / MIG), flux cored arc welding (FCAW), and gas tungsten arc gas welding (GTAW / TIG).
