A Superintendent is responsible for planning, directing, coordinating, and budgeting projects Involving the construction and maintenance of structures, facilities and systems.

Managing large projects including multiple foremen and a crew of forty (40) or more, sometimes in excess of seventy five (75). Conferring with senior management, supervisory personnel, owners, contractors, and design professionals to discuss and resolve matters such as work procedures, complaints, and construction problems. Scheduling the project in logical steps in order to budget enough time required to meet deadlines. Determining labor requirements and dispatching workers to construction sites. Planning, organizing and directing activities concerned with the construction and maintenance of structures, facilities, and systems. Interpreting and explaining plans and contract terms to administrative staff, workers, and clients. Preparing contracts and negotiating revisions, changes and additions to contractual agreements with architects, consultants, clients, suppliers and subcontractors. Directing and supervising workers including delegating responsibilities to foremen and electrical technicians and mentoring electrical technicians and apprentices in order to prepare them for promotion to the next career level. Monitoring project budgets in order to ensure positive cash flow and to maintain profitability. Inspecting and reviewing projects to monitor compliance with building and safety codes, and other regulations. Satisfying clients and generating additional work and repeat business.

Job Requirements

Working knowledge of computers and experience with the use of Microsoft Excel, Outlook and Word. Good attention to detail with the ability to recognize discrepancies Excellent oral and written communication skills. Strong organizational and time management skills Must have at least 15+ years in the trade and 5 of them in supervision. Possess a master electrician's license Possess a high school degree or GED. Experience in running $50M plus electrical construction & renovation projects including normal & emergency power distribution, lighting & lighting control, branch & power feeders and specialty systems In depth knowledge of NEC, NFPA and relevant codes

Desired Skills

Willing to Travel Proficient in a scheduling software such as P6 or MS Projects Proficient in labor/ production planning and tracking. Critical thinking with ability present technical solutions.

Exposure to computer screens for an extended period of time. Sitting for extended periods of time. Reach by extending hands or arms in any direction. Have finger dexterity in order to manipulate objects with fingers rather than whole hands or arms, for example, using a keyboard. Listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences. Communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand. Read and understand information and ideas presented in writing. Apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense. Identify and understand the speech of another person.
