Job Title: Superintendent Job Description A leading construction firm in Westchester County, NY specializing in heavy civil projects is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Assistant Superintendent to join our dynamic team. The Assistant Superintendent will play a crucial role in supporting the Superintendent in managing and overseeing all aspects of site work, including excavation and grading, drainage, utilities, foundation, roads, pavements, sidewalks, and curbs. This role requires a proactive individual with excellent organizational and communication skills, capable of ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality and safety. Responsibilities + Assist the Superintendent in managing daily operations on construction sites, ensuring all activities are aligned with project plans and timelines. + Supervise and coordinate site work, including excavation, grading, drainage, utilities, foundation, roads, pavements, sidewalks, curbs, and other heavy civil construction activities. + Support Superintendents in supervising field operations and labor forces, ensuring jobsite safety, quality, project schedule, safe work plans, and material procurement. + Conduct regular site inspections to ensure quality control and adherence to safety protocols, project specifications, and industry standards. + Maintain accurate project documentation and records, including daily logs, progress reports, and safety reports. + Coordinate contractor's field efforts to verify compliance and ensure smooth project execution. + Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies, promoting a culture of safety on the job site. + Identify and address any potential issues or delays, providing solutions to keep the project on track. + Communicate effectively with the project team, clients, and other stakeholders to provide updates and address any concerns. Essential Skills + Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred. + 1-4 years of experience in construction management, with a focus on site work, including excavation and grading, drainage, utilities, foundation, roads, pavements, sidewalks, and curbs. + Strong understanding of construction safety principles and best practices. + Proficiency in construction management software such as Procore, Bluebeam, P6, and MS Office. + Excellent organizational and communication skills. + Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications. + Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. + Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. + Valid driver's license and ability to travel to various job sites as needed. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Knowledge of Westchester County DPW, DEP, DDC, and other government agencies. + Con Edison experience would be nice to have. + OSHA 30 certification. + Experience with concrete and masonry. + Heavy civil project experience throughout Westchester and the 5 boroughs. Work Environment The work environment includes both office and on-site field office settings. The team consists of 250+ field personnel and 40+ office staff.
