Position Summary: This project is an incrementally launched, 1000’ long, steel composite bridge on the Kenai Peninsula of Alaska, South of Anchorage. The project is anticipated to last approximately 4-5 years and entails large-diameter drilled shafts, substructure concrete, steel plate girder pre-assembly and launching, and a cast-in-place concrete deck. The location is remote in nature, with an approximate 1-hour drive to the nearest town. Seeking individuals interested in becoming part of a small, tight-knit, highly driven group with the protection and success of the team at the forefront. Directs activities of workers concerned with drilled shafts, structural steel erection, concrete substructure, and/or concrete superstructure construction. Key Tasks and Responsibilities + Studies specifications to plan procedures for construction on basis of starting and completion times and staffing requirements for each phase of construction + Procurement of tools and materials to be delivered at specified times to conform to work schedules + Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, safety training and orientation of new employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems + Confers with and directs supervisory personnel and subcontractors engaged in planning and executing work procedures, interpreting specifications, and coordinating various phases of construction to prevent delays + Confers with supervisory personnel and labor representatives to resolve complaints and grievances within the workforce + Confers with supervisory and engineering personnel and inspectors and suppliers of tools and materials to resolve construction problems and improve construction methods. + Inspects work in progress to ensure that workmanship conforms to specifications and adherence to construction schedules + Prepares or reviews reports on progress, materials used and costs, and adjusts work schedules as indicated by reports + Manages Foremen who supervise craft field employees. Is responsible for this group's overall direction, coordination, and evaluation. May also directly supervise non-supervisory employees + Assume additional responsibilities as directed by division and corporate management.
