Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Federal Superintendent to manage a Coast Guard facility project in Kodiak, Alaska. The project involves interior and exterior maintenance and repair with a budget of around $10 million. This phased-out project is expected to last 18 months.

ResponsibilitiesCoordinate and supervise all construction activities on siteDirect field personnel to complete the project on schedule, within budget, and to specified quality standardsMaintain daily communication with the project manager for compliance with company policies and proceduresDevelop and maintain the construction schedule, identifying and resolving issuesKeep accurate as-built drawingsArticulate timely requests for information in the company's best interestReview subcontractors' Schedule of Values for percentage completion and Pay ApplicationsCoordinate and negotiate subcontractor change order pricingUpdate mandatory safety documentation as the project progressesSubmit and procure materials for self-performance workOrder materials and schedule inspections as necessaryStay familiar with requirements from the US Army Corps of Engineers and NAVFACImplement US Army Corps of Engineers' Quality Control Requirements and reporting proceduresMaintain positive relationships with customers, contractors, suppliers, and employees, ensuring safety, quality standards, and schedule adherenceSupervise the project from Notice to Proceed (NTP) through final punch list and turnoverPromote and administer job site safety, encourage safe work practices, and address hazards immediatelyEnsure all company employees and contractors adhere to safety and quality standards and scheduleMaintain an organized job site, including the construction officeEnforce Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and Affirmative Action (AA) complianceEssential Skills10 years of experience in building construction, tenant improvement, or remodeling5+ years of experience as a Superintendent on design-bid-build federal projects of $5+ million in scopeExperience with NAVFAC, US Army Corps of Engineers, or Coast Guard facility projects30-hour OSHA Safety Construction Certification within the last 5 yearsFirst Aid CPR & AED Training within the last 2 yearsEM385 1-1 CertificationSite Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) certificationCertified Quality Control Manager (CQCM) certificationAdditional Skills & QualificationsBachelor’s degree in a related field, or equivalent work experience5 years of construction experience as a working SuperintendentExperience working on construction projects with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) and/or the Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC)Valid driver’s license with a clean or acceptable driving recordProficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Project, and Primavera scheduling softwareCapability to perform minor scopes of work such as carpentry, drywall, cleaning, and demolitionSkilled in project estimationWork Environment

The work environment is onsite at the project in Kodiak, Alaska, with a temporary office setup. This position supports projects between JBLM and PSNS, offering stability in the currently unstable federal job market, with a backlog of work set for 1.5 years.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $52.88 - $57.69/hr.
