Attorney – New Jersey House Counsel Office of Kirmser Lamastra Cunningham & Skinner
As a member of Kirmser, Lamastra, Cunningham & Skinner, New Jersey House Counsel, Employees of ACE American Insurance Company, a Chubb Company, this attorney will be responsible for defending Casualty litigation involving premise liability, motor vehicle liability, products liability and construction accidents. Specific duties will include: conducting and defending depositions and engaging in other pre-trial discovery; drafting pleadings; engaging in motion practice; researching, briefing, and arguing appellate matters; negotiating settlements; generating reports and evaluations on assigned cases; court appearances; and trial work.
Candidate must possess a Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school and be licensed to practice in New Jersey. At least 7 years of litigation experience with experience in state and federal court. Must have strong knowledge of current procedural and substantive law (federal and state). Must be able to demonstrate effective oral and written advocacy skills and negotiation tactics. Must have an ability to apply analytical skills in addressing complex legal issues. Must be able and willing to proactively communicate with clients, claims staff, and other members of House Counsel.
Advanced oral and written advocacy skills, with a demonstrated track record of summary judgment and/or appellate success.Cutting edge knowledge of the substantive law applicable to New Jersey casualty defense litigation, with advanced analytical skills needed to address complex legal issues.Proficiency in effectively and strategically communicating with clients, claim department customers and law firm colleagues regarding litigated matters.Demonstrated, deeply ingrained enthusiasm and skills necessary to provide excellent customer service to clients, claim examiners, internal customers within firm.Technological savvy to thrive as a litigator in a digital environment.Strong team player willing to work effectively with others, at all levels and to step outside a defined role where required to advance the firm’s business.Ability to work independently, efficiently, and carefully in a high-volume environment.Excellent time management, organization and attention to detailAbility to work on-site in Whitehouse Station, New Jersey, in accordance with the firm’s hybrid schedule.**WRITING SAMPLE REQUIRED**
