About The Position

The Supervising Engineer, Gas Standards & Procedures is responsible for maintaining the Ameren Illinois Gas standards, policies, procedures, and records. The individual is also responsible for maintaining gas materials standards.

Key responsibilities include:

Manage and maintain the Gas Operation and Maintenance Plan and Gas Policies as required for compliance with state and federal pipeline safety regulations.Manage and maintain the Gas Construction Standards and selection and testing of new and failed materials.Responsible for ensuring all federal and state pipeline safety regulations are applied to standards and procedures; monitor and identify impact of new pipeline safety rules and regulations enacted at the federal and state level.Coordinate the implementation of standards and procedures with Gas Engineering and Operations personnel; develop training materials for implementation of standards and procedures.Complete modifications to standards and procedures to enhance effectiveness and incorporate changes in regulations; establish change management processes associated with modifications to standards and procedures. Manage required change log and associated documentation (e.g., version control, standards and procedures quarterly update).Identify and approve use of materials for gas systems; ensure all gas materials and supplies comply with federal and state regulations.Approve material inventory with Gas Engineering, Gas Operations, and Stores.Oversee gas material management, including stock coding; evaluate and approve new gas material for use in gas construction, operations and maintenance; perform testing and evaluation of new and failed materials.Develop direct reports and provide performance feedback to coworkers to ensure career and leadership development.

Qualifications

Bachelor of Science in Civil, Mechanical, or related Engineering Degree from an accredited college or university required. Advanced degree or coursework in engineering or business preferred. Five or more years of relevant energy experience required; seven years experience preferred. Supervisory or high level project leadership experience required.

In addition to the above qualifications, the successful candidate will demonstrate:

A thorough understanding of the Gas Operations and Maintenance Plan, Construction Standards, Gas Operations Field Reference Guide, and Gas Policies. Excellent working knowledge of the DOT CFR49 Part 192 Minimum Pipeline Safety Regulations, Illinois Administrative Code, API 1104 Welding of Pipeline and Related Facilities, and National Fuel Gas Code. Good communication, problem-solving ability, analytical and interpersonal skills. Technical competency in various computer applications such as the Gas Compliance System, WinDOT, and MS Office Suite. Proficient writing and public speaking skills.
