Overview
Directs, coordinates, and supervises the daily activities of engineers in the Generation Fleet Electrical Engineering group. Accountable for direct supervision, technical oversight, coaching, mentoring, and safety leadership to assigned staff. The position is also accountable for the technical quality of the group's output and is expected to continuously improve capabilities in this area. This position makes decisions guided by policies, procedures, and business plan.
Responsibilities
•Direct and prioritize work group activities, assigning and/or scheduling work duties to meet required business objectives.
•Provides technical guidance to support decision making by other engineers, operating/maintenance personnel, and management based on extensive acquired knowledge.
•Directs and oversees work of the team in accordance with applicable safety and compliance standards, company procedures, and project specifications.
•Evaluate direct reports for the purpose of developing organizational talent and building expertise in areas required by the department.
•Develop leadership skills and coordinate technical training needs for self and group members.
•Develops and reviews employee’s performance evaluations. Take an active role in managing and/or improving employees’ performance.
•Support routine financial reporting processes such as forecasting and budgeting. Participate in the development of forward-looking business plans that leverage technical expertise and support business objectives.
•Work with other departments on cross-functional technical and business teams, working groups or committees to achieve goals and objectives of the department and company.
•Support the development of department goals and metrics.
•Select, train, coach, and develop direct reports to build self-motivated and effective teams.
•Evaluates and monitors engineering contractors and consultants.
•Elevates and reinforces a strong safety culture within the work group, through daily leadership, communication, and behaviors to eliminate personal injuries and losses.
•Ensures and supports regular review of equipment performance. Recommends and helps to lead changes to improve efficiency and/or cost effectiveness focusing on systematic adoption of best practice across the fleet.
•Set priorities to ensure task completion and coordinates work activities with other supervisors, acting as a liaison with other sections or departments.
•Perform special tasks, initiatives, or projects assigned by manager.
•Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications
**Required Experience**
+ ABET Accredited Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering is required
+ 5+ years of experience in technical area related to the function of the work group is required
**Preferred Qualifications**
+ Demonstrated ability to provide technical direction to technical and non-technical personnel
+ Sound judgment, technical insight, and strong initiative to direct other engineers on resolution of complex issues
+ Strong verbal and written communication and influencing skills
+ Ability to work well with individuals on all levels of the organization.
+ Experience managing a range of projects from small to large including developing schedules, managing budgets, interpreting policy or regulatory guidance, and developing correspondence.
+ Demonstrated experience and knowledge of power generation equipment and systems.
+ Working knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry codes and standards related to the electric utility industry
