Services are readily accessible and include: inpatient, outpatient, partial hospitalization, screening, crisis stabilization, family/caregiver support, community outreach and case management, supportive housing, supported employment, prevention and consultation, employee assistance programs, and a licensed therapeutic school from preschool through high school. Specialty services include the New Jersey suicide prevention helpline and peer help lines for police, veterans, active military, teachers, mothers of special needs children and child protective service workers. In addition, UBHC is the primary mental health training resource for the New Jersey departments of Human Services, Children and Families, and Corrections, delivering 16,000 trainings each year. Posting Summary Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Supervising Habilitation Counselor in the Child and Adolescent Services – School and Community Based Program within Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care.

The primary purpose of the Supervising Habilitation Counselor is to serve as a supervisor for Habilitation Counselors within the Middlesex County NJ4S Hub team. Serves as the team leader for Habilitation Counselors. In addition, will be expected to provide direct care program services as needed. Also serves as a customer services role model and establishes alliances with community organizations and services providers. Demonstrates competency in recognizing the unique needs and applying relevant treatment approaches for children (0-12 years), adolescents (13-17 years) and young adults (18-21 years).

Among the key duties of this position are the following:

Provides training and administrative supervision to Habilitation Counselors in a professional and helpful manner. Coordinates functions of Habilitation Counselors in unit according to established policies and procedures. Assists the Program Manager in scheduling and in monitoring the schedule and supervises attendance and absences of Senior Habilitation and Habilitation Counselors to ensure coverage of service needs. Monitors that all documentation is done within prescribed time frames and in accordance with UBHC policy, and specific program, funding, and billing requirements. Demonstrates understanding of all program regulations and requirements and ensures that the programs meet all applicable standards. Participates in staff interview and hiring process. Develops training for staff based upon program and individual staff needs and delivers training. Regularly attends and participates in in-service meetings and other designated training events that will enhance clinical skills and maintain best practices.
