Job Description

The Supervising Producer will lead all entertainment news content from New York, overseeing coverage planning, story pitching, live guest coordination, and managing the entertainment team. This role requires a creative and strategic leader who thrives in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Job Duties:

Lead a team of producers and reporters covering entertainment news in New York.Collaborate with technical teams at NBC News (Rockefeller Center) to ensure seamless execution, staying within budget and compliance guidelines.Stay current on entertainment news, trends, and community events in New York.Develop and maintain a network of freelancers to support diverse content coverage.Work closely with daily show leads to align content with programming needs.Ensure a steady pipeline of engaging entertainment content for daily shows and specials.Generate daily guest ideas, leveraging a broad range of sources.Research, verify, and produce compelling news and feature segments for broadcast, digital, and mobile platforms.Book high-profile and relevant guests, conducting pre-interviews and preparing anchor scripts.Review and refine scripts/copy as needed to maintain editorial quality.Manage travel logistics for crews and guests when required.Secure key elements such as sound bites and video assets to enhance storytelling.Coordinate with internal departments (e.g., Miami Tech Ops, NBC, and Satellite Operations) to support production needs.Actively participate in daily editorial meetings, pitching timely and relevant stories.Build strong relationships with entertainment industry professionals, influencers, and key community figures.Develop exclusive and enterprise content that differentiates our coverage.Collaborate with producers, photographers, and managers to conceptualize and execute high-quality stories.Stay informed on national, international, and regional news impacting entertainment.Ensure proper completion of release forms and permits as needed.Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Basic Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Communications or a related field OR equivalent work experience.Minimum 3 years of experience in TV production, cable TV, or post-production.Experience in both studio and EFP (electronic field production) shoots with small production units.Strong ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.Ability to work in various environments, including outdoor locations and varying weather conditions.Fluency in English and Spanish (written & spoken) is required.Willingness to travel on short notice, including weekends.Flexibility to work non-traditional hours, including late nights and last-minute schedule changes in a 24/7 production environment.Must be 18 years or older with a valid driver’s license.Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States.Must be covered by Solutions, NBCU’s Alternative Dispute Resolution Program.

This position is required to be performed full-time from an NBCUniversal-designated worksite.
