Supervising Survey Technician Print (https://www.governmentjobs.com/careers/detroit/jobs/newprint/3937245) Apply  Supervising Survey Technician Salary $49,975.00 - $62,521.00 Annually Location Michigan, MI Job Type Certified-Regular Civil Service Job Number 202433122324OCPA Department Dept of Public Works Opening Date 02/03/2025 Closing Date 4/1/2025 12:34 PM Eastern Bargaining Unit 3600 + Description + Benefits + Questions Description Under general supervision, directs a survey field party and performs the more routine and less difficult surveying work Examples of Duties + Follows plans and procedures outlined by superiors or follows accepted surveying practices with the responsibility for accomplishing specific work assignments. + Supervises and performs the duties of group subordinates in the more routine surveying field work using surveying instruments and equipment. + Conducts preliminary surveys for pavements, open-cut sewers, and other simple structures. + Secures specified information for engineering design. + Establishes construction controls for buildings, pavements, open-cut sewers, roadway paving, retaining walls, and parking lots. + Creates precise vertical control surveys and river soundings. + Collects data for revision of maps. + Prepares sketches and computations relative to surveying field work + Determines sequence of operations and reporting progress of work. + Trains subordinate staff. + Periodically inspects, calibrates and maintains surveying instruments and equipment. + Verifies that the surveying instruments and equipment is safely secured in the storage room on a daily basis. + Updates survey records, filing, etc. as directed by the supervisor. Minimum Qualifications + High school graduation or G.E.D. and completion of two years of coursework in an engineering college or a university that includes courses in surveying. + Four years experience in performing field surveying work, one year of which must have been in a related supervisory capacity. Supplemental Information Evaluation Plan Interview: 70% Evaluation of Training, Experience & Personal Qualifications: 30% Total of Interview and Evaluation T.E.P: 100% Additional points may be awarded for: Veteran Points: 0 – 15 points Detroit Residency Credit: 15 points LICENSE, CERTIFICATION AND OTHER SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: + Employees in this class will be required to operate a motor vehicle - Valid State of Michigan Operator License required.
