Supervisor, Athletic Trainers – eligible for Relocation & Sign On Bonus!

Rady Children's is currently hiring an Athletic Trainer Supervisor! This position is located in San Diego, CA and offering a sign on & relocation bonus to those who qualify.  

Job summary: 

Under the general direction of the MPF Manager, the Athletic Trainer Supervisor leads, coordinates, plans, evaluates and improves the functions and activities of the Athletic Trainers and other assigned orthopedic clinical staff. The supervisor is responsible for facilitating effective and efficient team operations. The Athletic Trainer Supervisor assists the Orthopedic Manager in the day-to-day management of the department operations, collaborates with orthopedic physicians & mid-level providers, and aids in the treatment of bone & joint injuries & conditions in the ambulatory & inpatient/surgical settings.  

Daily job duties:  

Perform initial patient assessment including medical history and physical examination 

Obtain and review appropriate imaging for each patient 

Present patient to provider to include a concise history, physical examination, imaging findings, pertinent test results, and working diagnosis 

Collaborate with provider to determine appropriate treatment plan, communicate with patient, and provide further home exercise/rehabilitation instruction 

Collaborate with provider to apply or remove splints/casts, appropriately fit durable medical equipment, and provide gait training with gait aids 

Remove staples/sutures and provide appropriate wound care and dressing changes 

Assist provider in procedures including diagnostic ultrasound, preparing materials for pre- and post-injections and sutures, and preparation of patient treatment site 

Assist in the OR including but not limited to assist with positions and draping, first assisting, and applying routine dressings 

Assist in obtaining research data points for ongoing research studies 

Develop and distribute ongoing patient-centered educational information including home exercise programs and informational handouts 

Coordinate and prepare patient medical records and imaging from outside providers 

Communicate via phone/electronic means with patients, families, and their medical staff to answer questions and coordinate care 

Complete appropriate administrative tasks required of provider service including entering surgical/PT/DME orders, MRI reviews, patient call backs, responding to faxes, maintain patient registries, and other tasks required to maintain the provider’s service 

Mentor on site education of AT students/residents or other healthcare professionals 

Serves as subject matter expert; coordinates mentoring and training of team members. Provides ongoing feedback and evaluation to team members. Directly participates in annual performance appraisal process. 

Minimum qualifications: 

5 Years of Experience 

BLS for Health Providers (AHA) 

Nationally Board-Certified Athletic Trainer 

Master's Degree in accredited Athletic Training program 

Completion of an Athletic Training Residency/Fellowship Program or prior OR first assist experience 

Prior experience providing clinical support in a physician practice setting 

ATC Certification 

Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment 

Preferred qualifications: 

Prior pediatric experience 

Prior experience with EMR Systems 

Bilingual - Spanish

The expected hiring range for this position is $35.84 to $49.28.
