Position Summary

Oversees the teams that provide financial planning and reporting services to PG&E. Serves as the primary contact for all finance and accounting, operational performance, and budget and forecasting inquiries for a specific line of business (LOB) within PG&E. Oversees budget planning, forecasting and reporting support for LOB. Provides management guidance and oversight to employees on the assigned Business Finance team.

 

In particular, this role is within the Business Finance Electric Planning Reporting and Governance team.  The Supervisor oversees a team of analysts supporting monthly cost model governance, overhead allocations, order management, journal entries, budget transfers, and process documentation/process improvement related to all of the above.

 

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned location based on business needs. 

 

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed between the entry point and the middle of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.​ 

 

This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.  

 

A reasonable salary range is:​ 

 

Bay Area Minimum:      $118,000       

Bay Area Maximum:     $188,000

 

Job Responsibilities

Advise and coordinate the development and implementation of robust financial governance processes across key stakeholders groups. Advise internal and client leadership on operational performance management and measurement including benchmarking, creating tools and measuring performance. Assist client organization and Business Finance in monitoring and reporting performance initiatives. Build, retain and manage a team of high-performance professionals including Associate-, Analyst-, Senior- and Expert-level Business Finance Analysts. Coaches team members through assignments and provide prompt and constructive feedback on individual performance including: employee goals, development plans, etc. Direct team to develop dynamic models that help to project the impact of various regulatory scenarios and strategic initiatives. Drive financial accountability and financial performance management within the client organization. Drive understanding of client business model and utility business model within analyst team. Ensure the timely and accurate completion of the following major financial management endeavors: Three Year Operating Plan, Quarterly Business Reviews, Monthly Financial Reporting, and Year-end Planning for Balancing Accounts and Earnings Impacted Funding Sources. Establish a working environment that fosters engagement, continuous learning, innovation, open honest communication, critical thinking, creative problem solving, efficiency, accountability, collegiality and safety. Identify and address internal and client training needs. Identify inefficiencies in internal processes and implement improvements by directing internal and leading Business Finance-wide improvement initiatives and measuring yield on improvements. Lead development of monthly financial reporting package including: budget vs. actuals reporting, variance explanations, headcount reporting, forecasting, and ECS reporting. Lead the development and production of standard and ad hoc reports and analytical tools to ensure accurate and consistent representation of financial and operational performance. Partner with AM leadership team to prepare recommendations on program plans, future funding requirements, operating forecasts, and other financial matters. Prioritize, plan and report progress on analyst team's daily work and assist Director in long-term resource and strategic planning. Provide expert financial analysis and advice to client in a clear and effective manner. Provide financial support for client's regulatory proceedings and assist in financial planning for operational responses to CPUC decisions. Provides advice and counsel to Business Finance leadership team, as needed. Set performance expectations/goals, monitor progress, and provide timely coaching and feedback on performance via regular meetings, mid-year and year-end reviews, employee goals, development plans, and training plans. Supervise, coach, develop, and motivate the analyst team to achieve PG&E's goals and the individual's development objectives in a safe, effective, and efficient manner. Understand and effectively communicate to the team and the client the financial implications of regulatory decisions, guidelines, policies, procedures, and other related matters.

Qualifications

 

Minimum:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Business, or Finance or equivalent experience Minimum of three years of analytical experience (business, mathematics, statistics, engineering - based) including some prior experience leading and developing teams

Desired:

Masters Degree in Business Administration or equivalent experience Job-related experience, 5 years Leadership experience Experience with utility industry finance and accounting Strong understanding of accounting principles and overhead allocation models Ability to work successfully independently and in fast-paced team environment Experience with financial modeling or forecasting Working knowledge of SAP R3, Analysis for Office Six Sigma / Lean experience Excellent interpersonal communication and quantitative skills Intellectual curiosity, and relentless drive for continuous improvement
