Purchasing Supervisor

Key Responsibilities
Serve as the site’s point of contact for Purchasing and address issues as needed
Participate in and/or lead all required meetings related to Purchasing for the site to ensure cross functional alignment with internal and external partners (Tier Daily Management)
Lead standard methodologies for the Purchasing function and audit team and buyer performance (quantity determination, proactive buying to mitigate stock out, PO due date maintenance)
Develop a team of 6 buyers to optimize their strengths and interests
Work with Quality to reconcile non-conforming product and facilitate the return of product to the vendor
Use practical process improvement and Lean tools to troubleshoot issues, analyze root cause, generate root cause countermeasures
Issue chemical purchase orders in coordination with Supply Chain Planning and MRP signals
Purchase order maintenance and corresponding delivery management including acknowledgments, expediting, and updating purchase orders
Lead and resolve site-specific supplier and product issues
Invoice reconciliation
Determine data-driven actions from analyses and trends
Perform requested analyses and respond to inquiries from internal and external colleagues
Identify and prioritize yearly opportunities in concert with the Supply Chain Manager and Site Leadership Team
Functional & Technical skills
Expertise in ERP system logic and functionality required, AS400 preferred
Strong operations background desired
Must possess an exceptional attention to detail and be able to identify gaps in procedures
Confidence to collaborate with the management team to improve existing processes
Oriented, organized, and able to prioritize multiple projects simultaneously
High attention to detail, accuracy, and consistency
Possess the leadership and supervisory skills to lead, mentor, and empower direct reports
Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills and relate well to employees, peers, various levels of management, and vendors to develop strong supplier relationships
Proven knowledge using Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.), and / or document control software
Leads materials supply and inventory levels to meet business goals, works closely with suppliers and internal teams to update required data and communicate changes
Proficient in defining problems, collecting data, establishing facts, and drawing valid conclusions
Strong process orientation with experience driving continuous improvement and a track record of achieving results
Metrics / data driven with a focus on driving measurable improvement in all processes and established leading and lagging metrics
Brings fresh innovative ideas to improve group processes and efficiency, lead supply chain management with key suppliers
Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and negotiate a diversity of issues. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbally and written
Ability to optimally collaborate with others to achieve team goals and expectations. Self-starter, independent, and conscientious
Capable of thriving in a fast-paced work environment, skilled at managing multiple tasks and driven to achieve desired outcomes.
Demonstrates ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality
Proven ability to work in a team and matrixed environment
Experience & Qualification
• Bachelor’s in supply chain, business, engineering, or a field related to the position
• Minimum 1+ years of experience in Purchasing
• Supervisory experience preferred
• High level of English language competency (verbal and written)
