Department Overview

 

PG&E’s Power Generation Department manages and operates the largest privately-owned hydroelectric system in the nation. These renewable electric generation resources, located mostly at high elevation in California mountain ranges including the Sierra Nevada and southern Cascade mountains include 68 powerhouses, 184 miles of canals, 41 miles of flumes, 135 miles of tunnels, 19 miles of penstocks, 99 reservoirs, and 142,000 acres of watershed lands all covered by 26 operating licenses issued by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC).

 

Position Summary

 

 

Provides direction & oversight of all engineering plant activities for PG&E's Dam facilities and ensures appropriate Engineering leadership and GO staff involvement is utilized to ensure technical quality in all work. Responsible for overseeing Dam Safety Engineers in the Shasta area Hydro facilities.

 

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job.  The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.  Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.​

A reasonable salary range is:​

Bay Area Minimum: $​132,000

Bay Area Maximum: $​226,000

&/OR​

California Minimum: $​125,000

California Maximum: $​215,000

 

Job Responsibilities

 

Reinforce "Safety First" mindset through actively supporting safety culture changes, local & central safety committees, and personal safety accountability for self & each employee. Ensure safety is incorporated into all work. Works with Project Managers, Business Planners, Strategic Alliance Contract partners, and the Engineering staff, ensure all projects, initiatives, and engineering commitments (scope, schedule, cost, quality, & deliverables) are fully met. Initiates hire, fire, performance evaluation, coach, discipline decisions. Has budgetary responsibility for a work group. Ensures overall objectives of the group are met. Ensures daily activity is carried out in accordance with established procedures & guidelines. Represent Management in Bargaining Unit grievances. Provides direct supervision, staffing, training, coaching and mentoring to the Power Generation Engineer. Up to 25% travel to various locations in the Shasta area.

 

Qualifications

 

Minimum:

 

Bachelors Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience Job-related experience, 8 years

 

Desired:

 

Masters Degree in Business Administration or job-related discipline or equivalent experience Leadership experience, 1-3 years PE-Professional Engineer license
