Job Description

1.       Manage day to day plans including order/route management, inventory management, employee performance, and daily communication with internal/external customers and stakeholders.

2.       Drive key KPIs under main categories of (1) Safety, (2) Service, (3) Cost, and (4) People.

3.       Perform daily yard checks to ensure that every vehicle is accounted for, identify equipment damage and responsible party, manage controllable fleet expenses, assume lead role in vehicle crash investigations, identify and administer individual training by vehicle operator.

4.       Establish meeting cadence and lead regular meetings with maintenance providers.

5.       Perform Driver ride-along sessions to address deficiencies and achieve improved KPIs.

6.       SAFETY: Ensure that all vehicle/driver safety incidents are properly reported.  Responsible for driving plans that reduce branch incident/accident rates, ensuring successful roadside inspections, holding monthly safety/SHAPE meetings, ensuring effective and compliant pre and post trip inspections, and conducting a successful branch safety audit. Responsible and accountable for all fleet safety and compliance KPI’s, as well as drive cam performance.

Oversight of branch safety committees, responsibility to ensure attendance, action log completion and display.

7.       SERVICE:  Communicate any identified customer issues and order inaccuracies to branch leadership. Identify and report any route compliance issues to branch leadership and Routing team.  Participates in cross functional meetings with Demand/Fulfillment Planning, Retail Teams, Customers Teams, and HQ Support including LPT meetings, District Sales meetings, and Retail X meetings.

8.       COST: Ensure delivery of route KPIs and minimize fleet controllable costs to meet or exceed annual financial plan. 

9.       PEOPLE: Source, onboard, and develop direct reports and branch teams in multiple settings (classroom, OJT, Work-with, etc..) across entire delivery operation (delivery, cross-dock). Coach direct reports to create and execute development plans and support individual career goals.  Manage local hourly employees (Union and Non-Union) including coaching, developing and disciplining while developing relationship with local labor unions. Continuously develop personal knowledge to remain up to date on regulation and local law changes.

More about this role

Education / Certifications:

-Educational background in business, logistics, or related field (recommended but not required)

-2-5 years of field logistics experience (internal candidates) or fleet management experience (external candidates)

-Organizational ability

-Team/people development

-Be willing to obtain CTP certification through NPTC

10. Federal / State Regulatory Compliance & Law (FMCSA, OSHA, Worker’s Compensation, HR Policies)

Travel requirements:

Less than 10%

Within Country Relocation support available and for candidates voluntarily moving internationally some minimal support is offered through our Volunteer International Transfer Policy
