To provide patient care in the course of diagnostic ultrasound, under the direction and supervision of the Medical Director of Cardiology and the Director of Cardiology. Responsible for day-to-day department operations, including oversight of staffing, patient care assignments, patient/physician satisfaction, quality review, and process improvement. Perform ultrasound studies according to facility protocol and supervise duties of other Ultrasound Technologists.

GENERAL DUTIES

Demonstrates proficiency and quality in performing the technical aspects of Diagnostic Ultrasound with and according to policy and procedure:
- Able to perform echocardiograms and vascular studies within the scope of your training and experience. Selects the appropriate transducers and settings for examinations.
- Possess the ability to expand scope of examination according to any abnormalities. Selects the appropriate transducers and settings for examinations.
- Is able to assist physicians with transesophageal echocardiogram and stress echocardiograms.
- Maintains records of all procedures performed, archives patient examinations. Through knowledge of departmental forms, logbooks and computer system.Supervision of departmental employees to include new employee orientation, competency assessment, performance evaluation, and handling of personnel matters as delegated/designated by department manager/director:
- Plans and executes daily assignments and schedules staff to provide and efficient workflow with optimal patient throughput. Maintains employee accountability with all hospital policies and procedures. Encourages participation from employees in the ongoing delivery of care/services. Empowers staff to make suggestions for improvement of care delivery/services.
- Interviews, selects and trains new employees on department protocols. Maintains high standards on patient care and quality outcomes. Ensures new employees completes orientation requirements and required documentation is completed and submitted to Human Resources. Responsible for conducting performance evaluations and competency assessments in a timely manner. Reconciles timecards/demonstrates accurate and timely approval of employees' time records.
- Demonstrates acceptable leadership skills and sets clear expectations for employees through clinical practice, supervisor and teaching. Provides specific direction to ancillary staff to achieve desired outcome.Maintains daily logs for patient billing purposes. Maintains a variety of statistical information such as all scans performed, service calls for equipment, parts, etc.:
- Collects and provides statistical data for productivity and utilization reports. Tracks and maintains equipment, service calls.Financial Management:
- Implements a given strategic plan through reengineering and design of business processes and systems including staffing, supplies and accurate billing practices. Monitors, evaluates and controls appropriate utilization of budgeted FTEs.Customer Service:
- Maintains a good working relationship with all customers internal and external by providing exceptional customer service, managing and mentoring and transparent communication. Acts as a liaison and effectively interacts with physicians, staff, patients and families. Establishes a system of communication and collaboration with other department leaders to resolve interdepartmental issues/concerns and to meet the overall mission, vision and goals of the organization.
