Supervisor, Laboratory Support
The Lab at UPMC Williamsport is hiring a Supervisor Lab Support! This is a full-time position, 8-hour shifts that may vary between the hours of 6AM - 6PM. Supervises front line staff in the Laboratory Support department, assuming responsibility for their work performance and providing oversight of workflow and processes during assigned shift. Coordinates the delivery of laboratory support services through UPMC Susquehanna laboratories and outpatient sites. **Responsibilities:** + Provides analysis, advice and recommendations as an individual contributor on smaller projects; may have some project responsibility within the department or across similar departments. + Standardizes processing work methods according to lean standards across all laboratory facilities and outpatient areas. + Provides input into department's budget; supports the financial goals of Susquehanna Health through individual actions and management of resources. + Maintains inventories and department equipment. Maintains and monitors lab specimen storage systems, i.e. refrigerators and freezers. + Supervises front line staff in the Laboratory Support department, assuming responsibility for their work performance and providing oversight of work flow and processes during assigned shift. + Performs processing of Legal Alcohols to NMS Laboratories for State and local Police Departments. Maintains monthly billing log for monthly review by Laboratory Billing Coordinator. + Monitors reference laboratory specimens for transmission and results received status. + Monitors reference laboratory updates via electronic notification for test information changes. + Notify Laboratory Information Technology analyst for changes to the Laboratory Information System file maintenance. + Initiate and participate in quality assurance projects designed to improve processing TAT, customer satisfaction and other metrics. + Rewards, disciplines and evaluates direct reports, using independent judgment; provides input into hiring and involuntary termination decisions. + Performs and monitors the following for accuracy: registration, charging, crediting and test order entry. Documents errors and customer complaints, investigates and provides follow-up. + Three years experience in a laboratory or medical office setting. **Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:** + Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal + Act 33 with renewal + Act 34 with renewal + Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal **UPMC is an Equal Opportunity Employer/Disability/Veteran**
