SUPERVISOR, LAUNCH PAD TECHNICIANS (STARSHIP) – 3RD SHIFT
The Tower Build Supervisor is responsible for leading a team of fabricators, welders, and technicians building the primary and secondary structures/mechanisms for the Starship Launch Towers. As one of the most influential person on-site, you will drive progress on an hour-by-hour and day-by-day basis, ensuring that every aspect of our ambitious mission is executed with precision and passion. In this role, you will work directly with our engineering team and turn it into reality by building, retaining, and managing your team effectively. You’ll distribute labor resources, prioritize critical components of the build, and set headcount requirements where necessary. RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervise shop floor activity, including daily schedules and workflow Lead and manage a fabrication and integration staff including all performance management related tasks Review work instructions and make change recommendations when needed with the goal of simplifying manufacturing and increasing build rate Assess and vet the appropriate skillset needed Identify training needs, and develop training programs Provide required data and reporting to support departmental metrics and improvement objectives Monitor labor hours and overtime, and implement improvement plans and time management with staff Accomplish production results by communicating job expectations; plan, monitor, and appraise job results Effectively organize, assign and track work/deliverables for the team, ensuring seamless progression through multi-shift work schedules Initiate and foster a spirit of cooperation within and between departments Ensure product quality and conformance to specifications Maintain tooling and consumable supply inventory Improve area safety and efficiency through regular auditing and continuous improvement Continuously improve processes and employee efficiency, utilization, and productivityBASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or equivalency certificate 2+ years in a leadership position 4+ years in assembly and production, manufacturing, aviation, or aerospacePREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline A&P license 10+ years of experience in final assembly and production in a fast-paced aerospace manufacturing environment Experience bringing teams and processes from development to production desirable Experience with applying lean manufacturing principles, efficiency methods Familiarity with Design for Manufacturability, Kaizen, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and failure mode effects analysis Ability to effectively communicate (verbal and written) with Engineering and Production Able to adapt to constant changing work assignments and fast paced work environment Excellent attention to detail with outstanding work efficiency and accuracyADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Flight hardware is typically built in tight quarters and physical dexterity is required Must be willing to work night shift (6 PM – 6 AM) Physical effort including sitting or standing for extended periods of time and lifting and carrying weight such as materials or equipment (up to 25 lbs. unassisted) Must be able to work in an environment with exposure to fumes, odors, and noise Must be able to work in an environment that is occasionally exposed to extreme outdoor environments (heat, cold, rain) Must be available to work extended hours and weekends, which varies depending on site operational needs Must be able to travel for short and extended trips as needed, up to 15%COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
Pay range:
Supervisor: $105,000.00 - $135,000.00/per year
Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.
