**Job Summary**
Supervise the team of employees who contact health insurance providers to verify eligibility and benefits from within an organization that provides healthcare patient services. Develop policies, guidelines, and training for the insurance verification process to promote high levels of customer service to both patients and insurance providers. Monitor the documentation of insurance information for accuracy and completeness. Ensure compliance with applicable privacy regulations. First-level leadership. Coordinates and leads daily team activities. May spend a portion of time performing the work of those they supervise. Assists with management decisions and activities. Working knowledge of team function within the organization.
Receives predetermined work assignments that are process driven and subject to a moderate level of control and review. Guides subordinates on a course of action based on knowledge of established policies and procedures. Provides input and contributes to managing costs related to a unit or sub-unit.
Employment is contingent on the successful completion of a background check and the adherence to departmental policies, including UMB’s Telecommuting Agreement which requires a distraction-free and HIPAA compliant workplace, cameras on for all virtual calls/meetings, and the ability to work during office hours or assigned shift (M-F, approximately 8am to 5pm Mountain Time) regardless of what time zone you live in. Additionally, new hires are required to provide their own monitors (two) and reliable internet service.
**Compensation & Benefits:**
The starting salary for this position is $29-$34/hr, depending on experience. Members of UMB are eligible for a bonus based on department performance. + Train new hires to complete Pre-authorizations and Authorization Denials medical billing functions.
+ Create and manage team schedule
+ Prioritize activities, evaluate outcomes and recommend appropriate changes to the manager.
+ Respond to inquiries and support resolution
+ Supervises Team
+ Monitor employee productivity
+ Oversee employee performance, conduct annual assessments, support individual learning and development objectives
+ Oversee timecards, time-off requests, and other related items
+ Prior Authorization Leadership
+ Implement new procedures and coordinating office efforts to expedite payment of accounts.
+ Write, generate and evaluate a variety of reports for financial and managerial audits.
+ Initiate audits based on process evaluations.
+ Develop and coordinate the billing processes between staff members, departments and outside agencies.
+ Monitors the charge-adjustment-receipt structure and initiates changes or improvements.
+ Complete ad hoc related duties as assigned; meet performance standards and key performance expectations of position.
**Minimum Qualifications**
Four years medical billing experience plus one year of billing supervisory experience or equivalency (2 years related work experience may be substituted for 1 year of education) required. CPT and ICD9 coding, medical terminology and demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills also required. Bachelor’s degree in a Business, Health or Finance area plus billing supervisory experience preferred.

**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ 3 years of applicable work knowledge and experience as it relates to prior authorization submissions and prior authorization denials.
+ 2-years’ experience providing indirect leadership, project management or mentor-type support to others.
+ Advanced EPIC software experience with auth/cert, referrals, registrations and admissions.
